Well this is certainly interesting.
“Arrested Development’s” long-awaited fourth season will appear on Netflix early next year, Netflix chief Ted Sarandos told reporters at the National Assn. of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas on Tuesday. But it won’t unfold on a weekly basis like a regular TV series; instead, Netflix will make all 10 new episodes of the cult favorite available simultaneously, as people have come to expect when they stream a TV series on Netflix.
Series creator Mitch Hurwitz was also on hand to describe a bit of what fans will see in the new episodes. As reported by Vulture, Hurwitz said that though his initial conception of the fourth season was to do it as an anthology, with each character getting his or her own episode, the current incarnation is closer to the style of the first three seasons.
Additionally, Hurwitz elaborated further on the thinking behind doing the show this way…
“There’s going to be some mystery sprinkled throughout this [but] instead of watching one a week and try to get ahead of it, the hope is [fans] will watch them all together and then go back and look for clues and connections,” Hurwitz said. “We’d also like to use the technology to provide additional material, where you might be able to access another part of the story.”
If that weren’t enough, Hurwitz also added that there’s some thought being given to making a couple of additional seasons of the show.
These are all ideas that we fully support.

Too little too late Netflix. I finally canceled last month and it was long overdue.
yippie skippe!
Hmm. Whattaya know. Maybe there is a God… and maybe He likes awesome sleeper comedy series that had the plug pulled way to early… and He’s jonesing for another Bluth family fix like the rest of us.
Also: Why the f*ck would you cancel Netflix? It’s like, what, $8 a month? Compare that shit to cable or satellite, seriously.
What’s the point of making 10 “episodes” if the only way it is being released is through netflix? Why not just make a long ass movie or something instead. Netflix is where canceled tv shows go to watch at leisure… is there really a chance of being syndicated on a real tv channel and make people watch it when it’s on?
Pissed I didn’t think of this but BWE already planned out the ideal Arrested Development release day viewing party. You know these are going to be a thing. I will most definitely throw my own. [www.bestweekever.tv]
For the record, I think this is brilliant on Netflix and AD’s end. Super high profile series to get more people into the streaming product and gives Hurwitz a ton of flexibility to make the show just as he wants it, work around actors schedules, etc. Now just execute and we’re all winners.
This is a great news. Now I only have to suffer about one week of the internet going bonkers over a “meh” show instead of 10 weeks. Thank you, Netflix.
Hey, man, we’re here for you. It’s okay if you just don’t get it. No judgement on our part. You’re still cool in our book. Some people have an undeveloped sense of humor, but that doesn’t mean you can’t live a fulfilling life. Turn that frown upside down, little guy!
