All Instagram Photos Are Gone From Twitter ‘Permanently’

Last week we told you how Instagram and Twitter were  getting into a wee bit of a urination contest. Customers were mostly mildly annoyed. Now, they’re probably getting angry: Instagram has yanked all support for Twitter, something they’re claiming is a permanent move. Oh? Wanna bet?

This is likely a reaction to the fact that Twitter has announced photo filters of its very own coming before Christmas. Instagram has said absolutely nothing about this to its users, and all Twitter has had to say is this:

Instagram has disabled photo integration with Twitter. As a result, photos are no longer appearing in Tweets or user photo galleries.

While tweeting links to Instagram photos is still possible, you can no longer view the photos on Twitter, as was previously the case.

Will this stick? Probably not.

First of all, although we’re not exactly fans of Instagram around here, people do like it, and they also like being able to easily share their photos with their friends. That’s the entire idea of the service. Making it harder to share photos with your friends is pretty much completely counterintuitive to Instagram’s, uh, very reason to exist.

It’s not hurting Twitter at all: If Instagram wants to cut themselves off, it’s not their problem. So basically Instagram has managed to annoy their users right at the precise moment when Twitter can offer them an opportunity to ditch the service.

Yeah, we don’t see this lasting very long.
