It is written into this site’s Constitution that I shall bring you the finest clips from Japanese television, so here we go: A cat in Okinawa was trapped at the top of a 50-foot tree for four days, so Japanese firefighters went through the checklist of all the most sensible tactics:
The firefighters first attached ropes to the tree and tugged them back and forth to shake the cat out of the tree. When this failed, they whipped out a chainsaw and cut down the tree.
The top of the tree came tumbling down with the poor cat still clinging to its branches. But don’t worry, children, the cat was “safe” (and has since been hospitalized for a broken leg).
I especially enjoy the work of the graphics department for this news show. The cartoon cat face, the flashing question marks and exclamation points… It really bridges the language barrier. Much in the same way that tentacle rape needs no subtitles.
