NBC has signed up for a one-hour reality show starring Jerry Seinfeld that will focus on resolving the disputes of married couples.
The comedian’s project is tentatively called “The Marriage Ref” and features celebrities, comedians and athletes who will judge couples in the midst of marital disputes while recommending various strategies to resolve their problems…
NBC co-chair Ben Silverman said Seinfeld pitched the show as a companion piece of sorts to his classic sitcom. The comedian increasingly has used married life for material in his stand-up act. So while being a bachelor inspired “Seinfeld,” the comedian’s married years will inspire his unscripted program.
I’m cautiously optimistic about this. Seinfeld had some measure of success with the last show he was on, if I remember correctly. As long as it does a lot of Seinfeld being funny and minimizes the braindead athletes and celebrities as guest judges, this has a chance to be watchable. There’s my ringing endorsement.
This is off-topic, but remember when Seinfeld was like 40 and dating a teenage Shoshanna Lonstein? Did she have some big cans or what?
