In unsurprising yet horrible news, CBS is close to renewing #1 comedy (term used loosely) “Two and a Half Men” and surprise hit “The Big Bang Theory” (aka “Nerds Are Awkward”) for MULTIPLE years.
“Men” is being eyed for three seasons. “Bang” is near a deal for two seasons — a terrific show of faith to a comedy considered a slow starter just last year.
I don’t blame CBS. CBS is just making a good business move. I blame America for watching this crap. Don’t get me wrong: in complete fairness, there are moments where each show is superficially funny (and Lord knows I appreciate the contributions of April Bowlby and Megan Fox to “Two and a Half Men”). But it all comes via the lowest common denominator. It’s a bunch of paper-thin stereotypical characters devoid of nuance and created for simpletons. The fat old broad gives straight talk! The thin guy is awkward! Charlie Sheen has an STD! Oh, I mean Charlie Sheen’s character. Yeaaaahhh… his “character” has an STD. That’s what I meant.

Charlie Sheen has a clean bill of health. Charlie Mexico, on the other hand, has tested positive for strains of herpes normally seen only in African primates.

The only redeeming quality for either show is a Chuck Lorre vanity card. It lasts 0.1 seconds, so it’s perfect.
That clip is waaaay better with the sound muted. I can mouth all the dirty words she’s saying to me that way.
Why did you mix Nerds Are Awkward in there. I think a show daring enough to cast a hunchback as the female lead deserves its own post.

I’m with you on the Two and a Half Men hate, but Big Bang Theory is some quality mindless comedy. I get enough smart laughs from The Office and 30 Rock – let me have my stupid laughs in peace.

I’m with you with Two and a Crap Men…specially the “maaaan” chime everytime the show returns after the break.
However, I simply love Bing Bang Theory. It’s not as funny as the IT Crowd, but there’s so much I can relate to these guys that I simply love the show. I don’t expect to offer grand material, but it keeps me happy for 22 minutes, which is way more than most of humans can do.
