CBS has built a 20-foot wall around a block of eight homes in an Atlanta suburb for a reality show tentatively titled “Block Party.” Created by “Bachelor” brainchild Mike Fleiss, the show will pit the families living there against each other; if at any time someone leaves the walled-in area, their family is eliminated from the competition.
Jay Bienstock, a producer who has worked on “Survivor” and “The Apprentice,” said the concept is that suburban families lead such rushed, disparate lives, they don’t spend enough time together. This show will force them to do so. Dad can’t go off and play golf. The kids can’t go to ballet class or karate lessons. Mom can’t hit the mall.
He wouldn’t reveal what the challenges might be but they’ll be themed to suburban life — with a twist. “This isn’t something we are going to do, but it could be like pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey with 200 real donkeys,” he said. [Atlanta Journal-Constitution]
Okay, help me out here. I’m not as stupid as most Hollywood executives, so please, somebody, tell me WHAT IN GOD’S NAME is similar to pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey with 200 live donkeys? How is that even a jumping-off point for ideas? What on earth could you do with 200 live donkeys anyway? I mean, besides satisfy your mom.

I liked this better when it was called “Escape from New York.”
Or The Simpsons Movie
or The Truman Show
So all we have to do is call it a reality show?
*takes out map, circles Chicago*
Soylent Green is PEOPLE!!!!!
Why not just wall in all of Atlanta? Then drop a bunch of plague-infected rats in there. Atlanta is the most wretched hive of scum, and villainy in all the galaxy
or The Shawshank Redemption
(am I doing this right?)
Are they giving J.G. Ballard co-producer credit on this?
You got it wrong. It should be… created by Bachelor “brainchild”… That’s better.
so it’s like Quarantine but with black kids instead of over-the-top Prodigy-rejects?
