After a disappointing start the first two weeks, “Michael and Michael Have Issues” finally hit its stride last night. The skit above, in which Michael Ian Black goes shopping for sweatpants after a bad break-up, damn near killed me.
The meta “behind the scenes” half of the show is coming along, too, as the Michaels are growing into their vain, petty alter egos. I still don’t like it as much as the skits, but that’s because the “Curb Your Enthusiasm”/”Arrested Development” style of humor-through-awkwardness is hit and miss with me.
Whoa, whoa! Put down your pitchforks! I didn’t say anything bad about “Arrested Development”! I was merely talking generally about a style of humor! Hey, that’s real fire on your torch! IT BURNS! I take it back! I’m sorry! Michael Cera is a genius!

That was good, but i thought the funniest part of the episode was the behind-the-scenes bits about the breakup.
“SHE WANTED ME TO PEE ON HER!”
As the urban kids say, I give them big ups for breathing new life into “hot beef injection.”
I won’t complain because I’m just happy these guys are on TV, but what was so wrong with Stella?
Michael Cera is gay. He should have fucked his cousin.
“How come you look all glowey or whatever?”
“OMG, Did you get an abortion?”
It’s the little things that work, like looking over at Mike and making a quick cunnilingus gesture with your fingers at dinner, or commenting that it smells like aborted baby.
Their best work is still The State
best line from last night was the little throwaway part where they walk in on dude editing Showalter..
“you guys are a bunch of laptop computers. you have no feet. yet you still managed to score four god damned goals!”
the state was absolutey the funniest sketch comedy show ever. the full series actually FINALLY just came out on dvd and i subsequently came my pants. must have for any fan of weird awkawrd humor
