With Jay Leno’s unprecedented move to the 10 p.m. time slot (9:00 Central) this fall, a new late-night war has begun for booking guests. Soon enough, Conan O’Brien must compete for A-list stars not only with David Letterman in New York City, but also with Leno in his own back yard. And now NBC has announced that Leno’s first guest will be Jerry Seinfeld.
NBC announced Friday that Mr. Seinfeld would be the main guest on the new hourlong “Jay Leno Show,” which will have its premiere at 10 p.m. on Sept. 14. Mr. Seinfeld has long been close with Mr. Leno and the late-night star has cited him as one of his chief advisers when he was considering whether to accept NBC’s offer to start a new show at 10 on weeknights. Good Lord do I not care about this. I’m apathetic about Seinfeld’s career, and the world would be a better place if Leno fell into a rusty industrial meat grinder. He’s the only late-night host I can’t stand; everyone else has some redeeming quality. Conan’s a genius; Letterman’s the best interviewer; Kimmel’s a little frat-ty for my taste, but he can be funny; Craig Ferguson is quietly brilliant; and Fallon can be surprisingly quick on his feet. Leno’s just bland. It’s like watching a jar of mayonnaise tell jokes.

yo momma so fat, she put mayo on aspirin
From the previews, it looks like Jay’s show is going to be a slightly less funny version of “Are you Smarter than a fifth grader”
“It’s like watching a jar of mayonnaise tell jokes.”
Maybe that explains why old white people enjoy Leno so much.
At least CoCo still has Shaq-mu: The Black Shark.
Maybe Jay and Jerry can pretend it’s 1992 and they’re still relevant.
This is really the perfect match. Neither one of these guys is funny, or even edgy. The blandness factor of this show should be right off the charts.
@Otto: Were either of these two ever relevant? Seinfeld had a good sit-com, piloted by someone else (Which didn’t really hit it’s stride until they eliminated his stand-up) and Leno got famous for being Letterman’s club circuit buddy who was allowed on “Late Night” now and then.
Same as it ever was, IMHO.
Oh, and the “Leno-feld” photoshop needs a “Nightmare Fuel” tag…
Seinfeld is so lame now. His show was the best, but it is clear that the genius behind that show was Larry David.
F@@k you man i love leno. conan doesnt know the first thing about humor
Sorry, Fallon has NO improv skills. I don’t know how you see that.
you guys are no fun, they are both funny dudes; just because they are more clean cut / tame, doesn’t mean they are bland… just look at dane cook, he is the polar opposite and he’s not funny at all
