CBS has been constantly rewarded by millions of Americans for churning out clones of its procedural crime dramas, so it was only a matter of time until “Criminal Minds” earned a spin-off, which the network is reportedly now developing. As with “NCIS’s” birth of “NCIS: Los Angeles” this past spring, the characters for the spin-off will be introduced over the course of a couple episodes in the original show.
Details are sketchy, but the spinoff is expected to feature a new team of FBI agents, not existing “Criminal Minds” characters.
The development pattern for a “Criminal Minds” offshoot mirrors CBS’ template for successfully spinning off “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” into “CSI: Miami,” which begat “CSI: NY,” and “JAG,” which spawned “NCIS” and then “NCIS: Los Angeles.”
Wait, let me do the math on that. “NCIS: LA” is actually a spin-off of a spin-off of a spin-off of a spin-off. I hate to use the movie Multiplicity as a point of reference, but things really do get more retarded as you repeatedly clone them. And I guess that’s why “NCIS: LA” is the highest-rated show of the new fall season so far. Thanks, America. This is why we can’t have nice things.

“How I Met Your Father”, will star Neil Patrick Harris as “Barney” recounting the story to his adopted multi-ethnic kids about how he finally dumped Robin came out of the closet, and became “Fab – wait for it – ulous”
The broad on the right is Paget Brewster, right? If so, she needs to show her tits. If not, she needs to show her tits.
NCIS: LA – perfect for the viewers who found JAG to be a little highbrow.
CBS Sunday Morning: Saturday Edition
Actually, “NCIS: LA” is just a spin-off of a spin-off of a spin-off — notice the comma after “CSI: NY”. It is an exact copy of the strategy CBS employed with their CSI series, so you’re original point still stands.
/possibly grammar nazi’d, although I don’t think so
And of course I mix up “your” and “you’re”…
/grammar nazi’d for real
Wait… is Michael Keaton going to be on the new “Criminal Minds”? If so, count me in.
Also, what are they going to title it? The “Criminal Minds” team travels all over the US, so adding a city doesn’t work. CBS execs are scrambling on this one, no doubt.
+1 Enrico. That made me chuckle.
CBS is the Fredo of the big networks. It needs to be taken fishing.
Why would you hate using Multiplicity as a point of reference. It set the stage for the anti-cloning propaganda films 7th Day and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
CSI: Rock of Love, coming this fall, will mostly feature crimes detectable with a blacklight.
how long until CSI: NCIS comes out?
