Secret Girlfriend (Comedy Central) — Series premiere. I saw a screening of this last night, and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. It’s about a guy — you, the viewer — dealing with a psycho ex-girlfriend and a potential new love interest, and the crazy exploits of your two slacker best friends. It’s got some decent laughs, and I approve of the gratuitous sexiness, but it has the pacing and feel of a beer commercial: great for a 30-second spot (or even 3-minute sketch), but I doubt it will hold people’s attention for a full half-hour. Read a more in-depth review here.
CSI: NY (CBS) — Skeet Ulrich begins a three-episode stint as a mastermind serial killer. Hey, stop laughing!
South Park (Comedy Central) — Season 13 premiere. Here’s hoping that it’s still as low-brow and sharp ever.
Modern Family (ABC) — Best new sitcom of the season (this week I’m giving it a slight edge over “Community”). Prediction: “Hank” gets canceled and “Better Off Ted” takes its spot in the Wednesday night lineup.
Rescue Ink Unleashed (NatGeo) — I’ve been meaning to watch this but haven’t tuned in yet. A bunch of badass tattooed guys go around saving poor animals from the humans who mistreat them. No, I’m not crying! YOU’RE crying!

I’m not so sure about Secret Girlfriend. I’m pretty enthusiastic about the use of a second-person narrative since it’s so rare…but I don’t know about this one.
It must be tough for those Rescue Ink guys to do their jobs while wading through the ever deepening pile of vagina being thrown at them.
I originally read “Skeet Ulrich begins a three-episode stint as a mastermind serial killer” as “Steve Urkel begins a three-episode stint as a mastermind serial killer.” So disappointed that I was wrong.
Rescue Ink Unleashed is good. Where the ASPCA agents run into bullshit legal roadblocks on Animal Precinct, these guys just use intimidation to get their way. They’re bullies, but for a good cause.
(In case you didn’t assume from my earlier posts, I watch a lot of animal shows)
Even if Secret Girlfriend is weak I may enjoy it with the sound muted.
Side note: a few months ago in the building where I work, they were auditioning actresses for that show. That was nice.
What exactly is up with Better Off Ted, such as when it returns or does it? In more important news I was using a laser level at our barn and my army of cats saw the red dot and went crazy for it and pure enjoyment/ chaos ensued.
Something like this..

So yeah, I guess the pilot is okay. Hot girls aside, I’m not sure what to think. It had some decent moments, but if it devolves into nothing more than the protagonists wacky adventures I’m not sure if it will last. Also, Matt totally nailed the slapdash feel of it. It’s going to need to be a bit more linear to hold my interest.
However, I’m willing to give it a shot on account of it having potential and because it’s the first Comedy Central pilot in years that I at least found interesting (rather than making me embarrassed to watch the damn network).
South Park rules!! Technically it’s not the Season 13 premiere, as there have already been 7 episodes broadcast from Season 13. This is just the continuation after the summer hiatus. South Park fans actually have lives and don’t spend it infront of the tv when it’s nice out. So Matt and Trey are kind enough to break up the seasons so we can enjoy our summers. Thanks Matt and Trey.
I can’t take the guy from Secret Girlfriend seriously since he was the drifter Charlie and Dee were going to eat.
