Here’s the only skit from this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” that’s worth its salt. Given that I set the bar pretty low and that I prefer to defend “SNL” from its detractors, I still have to admit that this episode — hosted by January Jones — was probably the worst of the season so far. I’ve come to expect the usual negative aspects (the cold open that goes on too long, flat monologue, etc.), but this episode wasn’t elevated by a good digital short or a few memorable skits. It failed to showcase the host in any interesting role, the Black Eyed Peas butchered their own terrible songs, and the show leaned too heavily on homosexuality and farting to try to get laughs. And I think we all know that’s MY schtick! *makes out with guy* *fart noise*

I mean, it was kind of funny….
I concur. With the exception of this skit, it was an embarrassingly weak episode.
I kept holding out for a Jon Hamm cameo, but no dice.
“”worst of the season”
I don’t watch SNL, but if you are calling it the worst of the season I’m guessing the fat black guy was in every skit.
Truly awful. When one of the first skits was solely about FARTING – which as a guy I find hilarious, don’t get me wrong – I knew we were in for a long night. I like January Jones in Mad Men but after seeing this I have to wonder if she’s a bit… limited in her range.
Seriously, that was painful to watch. I cannot believe that Grace Kelly farting sketch made it to air. “January plays Grace Kelly in Rear Window, and she can’t stop farting! It’s funny ’cause Grace Kelly was so proper!” Really? THAT’S the pitch you’re banking on in the top third of your show? Jesus Christ.
I get it, January Jones plays a perfect “50′s” era lady. The writing was god awful this weekend.
The armed forces of Monaco are refraining from militaristic action over the Grace Kelly skit, stating the remainder of that episode was punishment enough for the American people.
During the really shitty early years of the Ferrell/Parnell era, Madeline Kahn hosted an episode when she was so alarmingly irrelevant, and she opened the show with this head-scratching and completely unfunny bullfrog blues song. The rest of the episode went on to be atrocious to the point that I’d call it the worst I’ve ever seen, keeping in mind that I pretend the Garafalo/McKinney era never happened. This episode was probably the second worst I’ve ever seen, topping any Dan Aykroyd appearance from the mid to late 90s.
*closes cover of Burnsy’s Retardedly Overwhelming Knowledge of SNL, sips chamomile and Jager*
I don’t understand why anyone watches this show anymore.
Making fun of Obama, homophobic jokes, fart noises…
When did SNL become the Blue Collar Comedy Tour?
“The rest of the episode went on to be atrocious to the point that I’d call it the worst I’ve ever seen”
That was redeemed by the “Old Glory Insurance” commercial with Sam Waterston, although they were only re-airing it from an earlier episode. Robots = funny.
Worst SNL episode ever? Any of the ones featuring MacGruber.
