“Next year,” Alex P. Keaton thought at Lilith Fair, “*I* get to pick the family concert.”
Meredith Baxter, best known as the matriarch on the beloved ’80s sitcom “Family Ties,” has admitted that she is homosexual, causing a ripple through the Internet as people say, “Who? Oh, right. Whatever.”
After recent reports [said] Baxter was spotted on a gay cruise, the actress is coming clean on ‘Today,’ saying: “I want to say I’m a lesbian, and it was a later-in-life recognition.” In an interview with Matt Lauer, Baxter — who has been married three times and has five children — says she figured out her sexuality seven years ago. Honestly, I’m embarrassed that this is news. “Family Ties” went off the air TWENTY YEARS ago, and while I’d hate to dismiss her work in such groundbreaking TV movies as My Breast, it’s not like Meredith Baxter’s sexuality is something that I’ve ever considered even once in my entire life until today. But whatever: good for you, Mer. Embrace being out of the closet. Wear those oversized cargo shorts with pride.

All the beatings she took from her husbands in those Lifetime movies, this was bound to happen.
Alyse Keaton = most annoying t.v. mom ever.
She also played the title role in “a Woman Scorned: The Betsy Braddock Story.” No doubt it was all those prison scenes that finally turned her.
This news would have totally made my year when I was 17.
Nobody turns them queer like Michael Gross.
/he was awesome in Tremors though
Good thing Alex Keaton didn’t find out about this while the show was still on the air. Probably would have required an honor killing.
In a related story: Tina Yothers? Still ugly.
Michael J. Fox shuddered when he heard the news.
@wwsm, and fat.
Rosie O’Donnel just jizzed in her pants suit.
Sex tape or it didn’t happen…
Yes, no, no, no, no, no, no, yes, yes, yes
Her name is “Meredith” I just always assumed she was.
The little kid that was on the show has been a fugitive from justice since last year. I’m sure he was traumatized by MB’s carpet munching on the set.
I just realized that Michael J. Fox’s tv dad starred in a movie called “Tremors”. Oh the irony. However, I apologize for being 10 years late in putting two and two together.
Sha-la-la-laaaaaa.
Ah, another addition to the ‘Skank of the Week’ list!
