This YouTube video from August shows Dominic West — the British actor best known as McNulty from “The Wire” — telling journalist Marina Hyde that David Simon’s upcoming HBO project “Treme” (a show that I’ve been salivating over for months now) will be better than the best TV show ever made. Here’s what West says:
West: It’s, um, it’s even better than “The Wire.”
Hyde: Is it?
West: Yeah, it’s “The Wire” with music… It’s fantastic.
I don’t want to get my hopes up too high, so I don’t believe him for a second. Not even a little bit. Still, if you try to keep me from watching the premiere of “Treme” next year, I will cut open your belly and choke you with your own intestines.

“It’s the Wire with music.”
Steven Bochco used the same pitch in 1990.
That’s some lofty praise there, McNutty. I will only believe this to be true if Cutty Wise has a boxing gym in the bayou.
NEXT YEAR???!?!??? BUT I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!
What is everyone’s obsession with musicals nowadays?
His accent sounds fake, I’ve always thought this.
I hope they have some sort of cross character episode with this show and “Steven Seagal Lawman”, since they both take place in Louisiana.
“It’ll be like Glee but with more headshots!”
Well played, Burnsy.
Ought to be great!
Reasons — 1. New Orleans very similar to Baltimore, esp., the problems. 2. Treme is one of the first areas in the USA where middle class blacks could live and prosper. 3. Recently it has been a place of rebirth of all sorts of great music. 4. It is also a racial/cultural mix, from the projects to some of the best soul restaurants in the world, to just a very cool area.
I can hardly wait.
I’ve always enjoyed the fact that McNutty and String have hardcore British accents in real life. Still trips me out.
