For those who keep track of international shows I want to come to America, two comedies I’ve coveted recently were “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret” with David Cross and “Death Comes to Town” by the Kids in the Hall. Well, both of those will be coming to the Independent Film Channel, as well as a 30-minute news satire show from the Onion News Network.
“It was sort of the logical next step, in a way,” said Will Graham, an executive producer of the Onion News Network videos… If you look at CNN.com or FoxNews.com, and you see these little snippets there, now we’re going to give you the whole network, and make it the most authentic, aggressive, snarky, in-your-face news show out there.”
Mr. Graham said the television series, which is planned to make its debut in early 2011, would use much of the same creative team that produces the ONN videos, led by the head writer Carol Kolb, a former editor in chief of The Onion. [NYT]
Oh man, I’m going to have to figure out what channel IFC is in my cable package. The last time — the only time — I tried to go there was when Mary Louise Parker was on the show where Elvis Costello talks about himself, and it took me like 30 minutes to find the channel. Talk about people who shouldn’t have TV shows. I was like, “Can we just keep the camera on Mary Louise while Costello’s talking?”

Great news, Time Warner carries IFC. IFC also shows Arrested Development re-runs.
Death Comes to Town wasn’t bad, but it is a letdown from the the original KITH sketch comedy. Gotta love a free bunny with every abortion, though!
Is that Scott Thompson, or did Verne Troyer find the Zoltar machine?
Speaking of international comedy, does anybody know anything about “Dirty, Sexy, Funny?” It’s a hidden camera TV show on Comedy Central UK, starring the super-hot Olivia Lee, who you may have come across hosting, “Battle of the Bods” if you ever needed something to masturbate to on TV at 3AM.
Anyway, her British accent is chaaaaming and I’ve seen her do other prank type shit that was hilarious — for a girl. Is this show worth me trying to find and watch?
What channel is that on broadcast?
death comes to town was awesome. super edgy and super awesome, just like original KITH.
Scott Thompson appears to be a Dominican baseball player.
whh: Fox Reality.
…or so I’ve heard.
The Henry Rollins show was okay when it was on IFC and I could be wrong, but I think the Costello show was on Sundance, not IFC. It’s understandable, tho’. I never know where I am when I’m starring at Mary Louise.
Nope. Going to have to argue against Death Comes to Town. I’m a huge fan of KITH – but they can’t do narratives. If they went back to sketches I’d totally go for it. But DCTT was not good.
The irony is, Elvis Costello’s show isn’t even on IFC. It’s on Sundance.
IFC also has that show about Wilfred, the pot-smoking Australian dog. The first two episodes were kickass.
Will there be chickens in the room?
Speaking of IFC, I’d love to know when the next season of “Whitest Kids U’Know” starts (last thing I read said June?).
times I’m glad I have IFC… now.
I second Death Coming to Town being awesome. If anyone has CBC, you could probably catch the reruns soon. The series just ended last week, I think.
