Jude Law hosted “Saturday Night Live” with musical guests Pearl Jam this weekend, and I suppose the cool Internet kids are talking about “Boombox,” the Lonely Island digital short featuring Julian Casablancas (see video below; international readers note that it’s YouTube, NOT Hulu). It doesn’t really light my comedy fire, but it does feature old people having sex and lots of fingerless gloves. And who doesn’t like fingerless gloves?
Personally, I thought the highlight of the show — other than Pearl Jam’s performances — was the spoof of Vicky Cristina Barcelona‘s initial restaurant encounter, featuring Law as a swarthy lothario eager to kill the pretty young Americans (Hulu video below). I guess I’m predictable that way. If there are two things I always find funny, it’s making fun of Woody Allen films and young women getting murdered.

I really don’t like Julian Casablancas, nor am I huge on fingerless gloves, but I’ll give him props for the repping Piet Mondrian.
I laughed at Bobby Moynahan three times in this week’s show. I must be high.
Are we sure that Eddie Vedder and Russell Crowe aren’t twins? PJ was great though.
@Burnsy – He was good in the Hitchcock sketch AND as Nathan Lane. It’s the end of days.
Jude Law was just great in general. He carried every sketch. But the audition sketch had me cracking up. Especially Sudeikis as Sam Elliot. “I’m not even here.”
I live not far from where they shot those dancing-on-the-street segments in “Boombox.” And yet I missed the entire thing. Way to pay attention, me.
And I agree that the poison skit was the highlight of the night. Who knew Jude Law could be so funny?
I even laughed at Kenan’s Whoopi Goldberg on Update. I think I have a brain tumor.
Oh, gawd, Burnsy. Next you’ll be telling us that you love Lost.
I’ve heard the Lonely Island album that’s been out a while and the Boombox song is on it. They pull from one of the songs from the album once in a while. The next time Jack Black is on SNL they’ll probably do one called “Sax Man” that is mildly amusing.

I thought the mock Ford commerical was pretty funny, but in general think Jude Law did well.
The whole show was a nice turnaround from last week’s. I ended up loving Talkshow with Ravish for some odd reason and wouldn’t mind seeing it as a recurring sketch. On a similar note- here’s an unsolicited list of what I don’t ever want to see again (although I know I will):
1. Family that makes out with eachother
2. Court Stenographer
3. Kristen Wigg trying to carry a sketch with some random old-timey hollywood/stage character.
4. Keenan Thompson. Seriously- has there ever been a less funny cast member with more recurring horrible sketches?
