Alec Baldwin hosted the season finale of “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, and as usual it was neither as good as we might have hoped or as bad as people are saying it was. Baldwin brought energy and enthusiasm to some otherwise lousy skits, Weekend Update rolled out some of its 
But it’s never much fun to join the chorus of voices critiquing the show that just aired; I’d much rather list the changes I’d like to see made for next season:
- Fire Jenny Slate. Then push her into traffic.
- Hire a black female cast member.
- No sketches longer than five minutes. It’s unrealistic to expect every skit to be a winner, but a dud that goes on for six minutes is inexcusable.
- Outsource more decisions to Facebook. Even though we’re an overly critical rabble, the Internet has a better feel for what makes “SNL” good than Lorne Michaels does these days.
- Seriously, Jenny Slate has to go.
That’s about it. Here’s hoping Seth Meyers spends most of his summer coming up with funnier sketches than the family that makes out with each other.

The Digital Short was easily the highlight of the night. But I do really, really love Hader’s Stefon character.
And firing Jenny Slate is the best thing they could do next season. Letting Joel McHale host wouldn’t hurt, either.
I’m praying to any god that will listen to make sure the Starfish character never returns.

Starfish was awful. I kept waiting for Christian Bale to pop out of the woodwork and yell at her.

I honestly had all the episodes from this season on my DVR going back to James Franco. I managed to watch from that one to Zach Galafianakis over the weekend.
Don’t ever do that. I can’t stress enough how important it is that nobody ever do that to themselves.

I actually really enjoy watching SNL on a Sunday when I’ve finished stealing it from a torrent site. I’m British so I don’t get the vitriol that is poured on it, maybe because I haven’t lived with it for 35 years and expect more from it, now?
Kristen Wigg is easily the most talented comedic actress I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if she writes her own material, but her performances are nothing short of brilliant. Strangely, not knowing much about the American comedy scene I have to agree about Jenny Slate. Although, Abbey Elliot seems to be coasting on her cute looks. I also like Keenan Thomson’s characters on the show. There aren’t actually any black comedians on British TV, maybe the odd stand up occasionally. The rest of the cast all seem fine to me. They all have characters I look forward to seeing.

I would’ve thought someone from the land of Ricky Gervais and Simon Pegg would have a little better taste in contemporary comedy, but to each his own, I guess.
Hell, the fucking GEICO mascot is funnier than SNL.
The only sketch I liked was the Bedilia Baldwin sketch. They’re about one sketch away however, from making that an annoying recurring character.
Joel McHale would make for a great host. Other 2010-2011 hosts should include: Aziz Ansari, Robert Downey Jr., Danny McBride, Kirsten Bell, all four castmates of “Its Always Sunny”, and of course Jon Hamm again. Hamm is the natural heir to Alec “I’ve hosted 15 times” Baldwin.
Oh, and they need to get rid of Jenny Slate. I can’t believe no one has suggested this yet. She is awful.

Yes, nothing funny over here comedy wise, but do what I do and don’t watch British television. If I see another Michael McIntyre I will go nuts.
Am I the only one who thinks that Jenny Slate doorbell/alarm clock sketch is hilarious?
Though, I didn’t know which of the featured girls it was until I looked it up on Wikipedia, so.
I have to second that the Tina Tina Cheneuse sketches are great. And if you don’t like Kenan Thompson and Kristen Wiig then you should never watch SNL again. And the Zach Galifinakis show was great if only to watch them make the show funny without giving him almost any lines.

While Jenny Slate hasn’t been up to the task, no one is more worthless than Abby Elliott. Name one thing she’s done in her two seasons that has been even passable. I nominate her Shaun White impression as the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome of comedy. At least Slate has the Tina Tina schtick.
Bruce Campbell should get a chance to host. We could have a skit with him as Ash sawing Lorne Michaels and Ke$hit into pieces.

Well, I think I should probably clarify my opinion. As a performer of physical comedy including her delivery of material I believe there is no one I know off who is better. I’m not referring to the actual material she is given or has written. I know of funnier women, such as Sarah Silverman, Tina Fey and our own British comediennes like French&Saunders, but i count them as writers first and performers second.
SNL needs to find comedians who already have a little bit of a following and go with them instead of the unknowns that they try to get over. There are a bunch of touring comedians who could make this show good again
JENNY SLATE SUCKS ASS!!!! She’s ugly and her voice is weird. I agree they should hire a black female cast member, someone like Maya Rodolph. They should also fire Nasim Pedrad, she’s not that good. Abby Elliott is funny but she’s just not there yet. Bobby Moynihan is funny. Everyone else in the cast are great. If they got rid of Jenny and Nasim all will be right with the world!
When I see or hear Jenny Slate I fell like ripping my eyes and ears off!!! How could she even consider herself a comedian. She’s 100,000,000x worse than Sarah Silverman (who is also not funny). I really really REALLY hope they fire her!!!! Who ever thinks she’s funny or atractive has no taste. I hope they fire Nasim too!!!! The true funny people on SNL currently are Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, and Fred Armisen. Kristen Wiigs is funny and great too but they sometimes over use her and it gets annoying.
For the love that is all funny, PLEASE FIRE JENNY SLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll push her into traffic myself!!!!! They should hire funny women like Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, and Maya Rudolph. Getting better hosts doesn’t hurt either. Jason Segel, Joel McHale, Will Ferrell, Jimmy Fallon, Zachary Levi, Amy Poehler, Jonah Hill, Jon Hamm, Michael Cera, Seth Rogan, Kristen Bell, Jane Lynch, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse should host next season to make it better.
