UPDATE: Now with new and improved banner image.

This is just industry gossip about preliminary talks, but there’s word that ABC has got a great idea to keep from losing “Lost” fans. Kristin dos Santos from E Online writes:
A reliable insider at ABC tells me that there is talk of the network doing a “reboot” of one of the greatest TV series of all time, J.J. Abrams’ Alias.
Okay, stop right there. In no way, shape, or form is “Alias” one of greatest TV series of all time. It was a sexy chick in different wigs. And while I applaud that idea, anyone who puts it on a list with “The Wire” or “The Shield” or “Six Feet Under” or — hell, even “Lost” — has probably taken a claw hammer to the skull. Or needs to take a claw hammer to the skull.
Again, it’s only very initial talk at this point, but I’m told that the development folks over at the Alphabet network are considering doing a new version of Alias that would borrow some elements of the original series that starred Jennifer Garner…
According to this source, ABC is hoping to hold onto its lost Lost audience with a re-envisioned J.J. Abrams series, in light of FlashForward not working out so well. (It was canceled last week.)
Um, “Alias” ended in 2006. Four years ago. It was on the air (five years) longer than it’s been off the air. But no, this is a great idea. Just f*cking remake everything. Isn’t it about time we got a “FlashForward” reboot?

Don’t get the obsession with Jennifer Garner. She’s cross-eyed.
Calling Alias one of the greatest series ever is like calling Joss Whedon a successful talent. They both suck.
/waiting on the reboot to the horrible reboot of the horrible V!
Isn’t it about time we got a “FlashForward” reboot?
Matt, as God as my witness, if we actually GET a “FlashForward” reboot because of this post, you have a vicious wet willie coming to you, my friend.
I actually thought the premise of FlashForward was awesome but the execution was shit. I wouldn’t mind seeing them take the same “everyone on the planet blacks out for 2 minutes” idea and see what happens with a better cast and writers.
Jennifer Garner actually looks hot there. Too bad she has the face of Jennifer Garner.
You’re not helping, Heisenberg.
Maybe ABC is just grasping for a way to keep Evangeline Lilly on the payroll?
I’d certainly put Alias on a list with Lost. I got through more than one season of Alias before it fell into the JJ spiral of retconning and obfuscation.
@matt, @heisenberg: Being the kind of nerd that Matt beat up in high school, I read the book Flashforward before the series came out. It was good. No terrorists, no Blackwater-like quasi-military outfits, hell no FBI story! Imagine a show like that making it past the network idiots. I am still watching.
/shakes water from hair after 15th swirly
please dont compare JJ Abrams garbage with Joss Whedon. Joss Whedon’s poops are better to look at than JJ Abrams’s shows.
Season 1 of Alias was great tv … i gave up on it midway through Season 2 so finding out about a 4th season exists IS like a reboot to me
Alias sucked after the first season and even it was better, in every way, than that piece of shit Lost.
I have read enough Kristen dos Santos over the years to know that when she says “greatest shows” she is referring to Michael Vartan and Bradley Cooper, not the actual acting or plot or show for that matter.
Anyone catch the Matt Damon award show on ABC ? Kevin Smith noticably absent… freaky
ALIAS IS the best TV series of all time!
I love it, and I miss it…
And Jen is amazing!
I love her too
you know what? joss whedon isn’t all he’s cracked up to be. i mean, firefly/serenity were bad ass, but only catered to the nerd population. so if you’re arguing about it on the internet, that’s probably where you fall in, and you probably love everything joss whedon ever made. HOWEVER… most anyone can tell you that Alias was garbage, as was Dollhouse. JJ Abrams has the midas touch. even that piece of shit cloverfield was moderately successful. star trek is phenomenal. and Lost is arguably the best show on TV in the last few decades. but i wouldn’t expect you internet nerds to understand that, since it’s not about spaceships or hot chicks with guns.
@jeremy
You underestimate the ‘internet’ audience. We know good when we see it. No one here likes a show simply because it has “hot chicks and guns”. Nor does anyone here dislike a show simply because it doesn’t.
