I’ve spent a lot of my day spewing more vitriol than usual, so let’s clear the palate with some good ol’ fashioned geek news: seminal New Wave band Devo will appear on the 100th episode of “Futurama.” Mmmm… post-punk synth pop weirdos in a once-canceled sci-fi cartoon. Tastes cult-y.
To celebrate the 100th show, [Matt] Groening asked his musical heroes to be a part of the show – and they agreed to play mutant rights activists.
The episode comes as Devo stage a comeback of their own – their upcoming Something for Everybody will be the band’s first album in 20 years. [PR Wire]
If this news gets you excited, go ahead and skip to the front of the line for an atomic wedgie, because you’re an aging nostalgic New Wave fan who followed a canceled cartoon for seven years. There’s a chance that Adrian Grenier could take you in a fight.

Nobody Cares! Nobody Cares!*
*If you can recognize this reference, we’re going to have to give each other wedgies.
I’m just glad to find a Futurama blog post that isn’t titled “Good News Everyone!”
Holy shit, I once respected a man who considers Devo to be heroes.
Their work in Heavy Metal changed my life.
