Adam Scott is a hot commodity in Hollywood right now. After small but memorable roles in Knocked Up and “Eastbound and Down” and a movie-stealing performance in Step Brothers, he landed the lead role in “Party Down” and parlayed that into a part on “Parks and Recreation.” Long before that, however, he was Griffin “Griff” Hawkins on “Boy Meets World” in the mid-90s (images via foreignspell). Now, I was too old to spend my Friday nights watching ABC back then, but there are millions of people who grew up watching that show and masturbating to Topanga, so I’m sure this is a revelation for them.
Back in April, Scott discussed playing Griff with the AV Club in a Random Roles interview:
It’s weird because at the time, Boy Meets World was a show for children, a show for 11-year-old girls. So it’s not like it had any real meaning. It was a job I had… It had no significance whatsoever. For me, it was exciting because it was a job on a TV show, but as far as a career thing, it was meaningless.
Oh. Well then. Um. I was kind of expecting to go somewhere with this, but that’s a pretty deflating quote. I’m not really sure what to do now.

My wife and I had this discussion on Sunday watching the finale. She said “Wasn’t he on Salute Your Shorts?” and I was like “Holy shit, you’re right. He was Pinsky on Salute Your Shorts, then he was the bully on Boy Meets World…..No, wait, he was Griff on Boy Meets World….but Pinsky was also on that. And so was Earl’s brother.”
