Debuting in August (with a sneak peek after the “Breaking Bad” finale), “Rubicon” will be AMC’s third original series, and it follows in the gigantic footsteps of “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad,” arguably the two best shows on television. The first trailer and poster are below, and I don’t want to rush to judgment, but it doesn’t look nearly as good as AMC’s other efforts.
Granted, I’ve never been one for drama about conspiracies (I blame Mel Gibson and Will Smith), but all I get out of this trailer is that James Badge Dale (Robert Leckie in “The Pacific”) starts unraveling a government secret by unlocking the mystery of a four-leaf clover. Also, there are clues from a chess game, and the guy who played the judge in “The Wire” is there. I like the cast and the precedent that AMC has set, but I’m getting dangerously close to making a fart noise here.

Calm down, fella, AMC has earned our trust. If this show were to be on NBC, then you could fart away.
If this show were on NBC, it’d star Howie Mandel.
@Enrico – I’m sure it’ll be okay, but I get the feeling that this won’t hook me. I hope I’m wrong, though.
No, you’re right. I felt hooked when I first heard the PREMISE of “Breaking Bad.” With this, I get the premise, a poster, and a trailer, and I still can’t muster up a shit about it. Also, no argument here about “Breaking Bad” being the best show on television. “Mad Men” might just barely crack my top five.
The music was a bit much but Miranda Richardson’s presence in the trailer can only be a good thing.
Needs more guys getting shot in the head as they try to crawl through a window but I’ll give it a chance. Plus its summer- the alternatives usually involve Sharon Osborne, fat people crying, or monkeys fellating themselves*.
*I’ve never seen So You Think You Can Dance but I assume this is what the show is about.
Saw the pilot for this show.. it was slow but it looks like its going to be a winner
