Four years after the show’s cancellation, people still get excited at the slightest mention of “Arrested Development,” so I figured I’d take some small news items tangentially related to the show, add exclamation points, and see what happens.
First off, David Cross has been added to the cast of Fox’s “Running Wilde,” the new sitcom from “AD” creator Mitch Hurwitz that stars Will Arnett (watch the trailer here). Cross will appear in the first seven episodes as Emily’s (Keri Russell’s) environmentalist fiancé, replacing Andrew Daly of “Eastbound & Down” in the role. [TV Squad]
Also, for what feels like the 800th time in three years, someone close to the project has confirmed an Arrested Development movie.
Arnett, who played George ‘Gob’ Bluth, has now told GQ: “Yes, it’s happening.”
However, he added that the script is not yet finished and explained that although all the original cast members have agreed to appear, there is no timetable for the movie.
Meanwhile, the show’s executive producer Mitch Hurwitz said: “Believe it or not, we have started the script. We’re taking a little abeyance while we get [new show Running Wilde] up and running. But it is our absolute next priority and we can’t wait to do it.” [Digital Spy]
In other words, it’s totally never happening.

AD update: there is still money in the banana stand.
I’ve made a huge mistake.
I’ll never forget you, dad.
What needs to happen for this movie to become a reality? Michael Cera can’t put off puberty forever.
You keep forgetting to say “away”>
He says she’s blowing everyone away.
this is a trick
An Arrested Development movie? Don’t get me wrong, I love “Tennessee” and “Mr. Wendel,” but a full length feature seems like a stretch
Please make the AD movie a comedy centered around the real life death of Michael Cera.
/Danger, “but I am still thirsty”…
STEVE HOLT!

As long as Cross has to grow that creeper stache, I’m down for watching anything remotely associated with AD.
It’s not a matter of growing the stache, but trimming down the Unabomber beard he’s been rocking lately.
If the producers got a banger in the mouth for every time they talked about getting this AD movie off the ground…
Oh Tobias, you blowhard!
Douche chill!
Why do people think that this movie has a certain time frame that it has to fit into? All they need to do is set the movie 5 years after the final episode of the show. Problem solved. I’m willing to watch the Bluths at any point in their life, I don’t care if George Michael is 30 by the time they finish it.
If they don’t make an ‘AD’ movie, then it will just prove that Hollywood is chicken. Kookoo! Kookoo!
