Olivia Munn has been in the center of feminist discussion recently. After her debut as a “The Daily Show” correspondent a few weeks back, Jezebel wrote about “The Daily Show’s” supposed “woman problem,” with predictable jabs directed at Munn’s sex appeal. Earlier this week, Salon featured an essay that discussed an excerpt from Munn’s book in which she reveals that the crew for her non-nude Playboy shoot cajoled and pushed her to work outside the contract and go nude (she didn’t). In every case, Munn’s good-natured willingness to embrace her sex appeal makes her less credible — as a comedian, as an actress, as a woman — in the eyes of her detractors.
Anyway, that’s a long introduction for Munn’s second “Daily Show” segment (video below), in which she serves as the “Senior Espionage Correspondent” for the show’s examination of the Russian spy ring that was brought down this week. All in all, I’d say it’s pretty good: while she still hasn’t perfected her banter with Jon Stewart, I still got a couple laughs out of it, and I could see her getting better as she grows more comfortable with the scripted format. And yeah: I like the way she looks in a tight blouse. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I mean, it works for Fox News, right?

The bitter Bettys from Jezebel taking a jab at an attractive woman who uses what God gave her? That’s umpossible.
This girl better keep her clothes on as long as she can. Because once the world sees her all nude, nobody will care anymore. She’s hot and that’s about it. If she’s leaves G4, she’ll lose most of her fans. Those nerds don’t do much of anything except play role playing games and watch G4.
When in doubt, just bust out some Jew stereotypes, Olivia.
Those prudes at Jezzebel don’t understand that her sex appeal is what has made her get where she is. If she didn’t exploit it, there are much funnier women (and literally thousands of funnier men than them) to take her place.
She’s attractive, confident, and comfortable with her sexuality. BURN HER!
I also enjoy seeing her in a tight
blouseset of restraints tied to the radiator in my basement. Just kidding!I live in SE Louisiana . . . we don’t have basements.
How bout that spy chick? She’s kinda slammin too.
I had a friend of mine tell me once “Jezebel, I used to read it, then started to feel out of place, because I had never been raped.”
She’s dreadfully unfunny, like blowing your load in Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube to make sure she swallows unfunny
Jenn Sterger sees nothing wrong with Olivia using her looks to move up in the world. But what the fuck is this “talent” shit she keeps hearing about, and who does she have to blow to get some?
Not great, but not so bad. She could get to be as good as Wyatt Cenac.
Being hot and full of energy and obnoxious makes me horny, it doesn’t make me laugh. She’s fucking annoying and seeing her on TDS makes me sad
Olivia Munn FTMFW. You can support seeing her more on TV that isn’t on some video game supernerd channel or you can GTFO
I could totally support her on a non “video game supernerd channel” if she had any other qualities besides being a supernerd’s wet dream. She can fill out a wonder woman outfit, read cue cards and knows how to pander to an audience that pays her check. You can count on her to some how end up in underwear but just leave the jokes to the ugly folks please.
Actually reminded me a LOT of someone. Took me a couple minutes into segment to figure out who. Sam Bee.
Her expressions but especially her gestures are very much like Bee’s. Began to think I was watching an attempt at an impersonation.
Enjoyable segment, FWIW, but I was left wondering if she was trying to hard to fit in and over did it.
I’m sure the feminist take on this new correspondent is interesting and I might find some things I agree with but in short, Olivia may look pretty but her comedic timing sucks.
Kristen Schaal should come over and bitchslap her back to the video game channel. (Seriously, Kristen rocks on Flight of the Conchords!)
I’m a big fan of her piece.
I found that humorous. Lighten up people.
@1:29 – Haven’t we met in California last summer? Say, do you mix tenses much?
wow, that was really boring
I’ve been aroun the web a while and yet it still surprises me how polarized people get about things that don’t matter. She’s not bad, she’s not good, she’s just got great physical gifts, and that’s fine by me. I’d rather see her than Edward R Murrow; he couldn’t carry off a wet t-shirt AND wasn’t very funny.
She sucks so fucking bad.
This article should have been titled, “the Daily Show’s Olivia Munn, piece”
You had the right words, just the wrong order, and she certainly is a nice juicy piece.
Considering it’s only her second segment on the show, I think she just needs some time to settle into the format.
Anyone who watched the Colbert Report from day one could see that it took awhile for even Colbert to really get warmed up to the new show and hit his stride as a host.
Besides, even if she doesn’t improve, she’s still more attractive than anyone I can recall in the Comedy Central lineup. Jon Stewart can make my funny bone happy while Olivia Munn makes my other bone happy.
she is the most annoying attention whore to date and brings literally nothing to the table. F you Daily Show, we had some good times but wtf is this?
