There’s no disguising “True Blood” as something besides Twilight for sluts (there’s a vampire-human romance, a love triangle, and lousy acting: yup, that’s Twilight). However, a few charming supporting characters and gratuitous sex and gore go a long way, so it’s a welcome and lively distraction during the doldrums of summer television.
That said, there’s still plenty to make fun of, and the Landline TV sketch below captures the essence of the show in a quick minute. Some of the highlights:
“This here’s a metaphor for homosexuality.”
“Can’t a black woman have demon sex without getting hassled?”
“They canceled ‘Deadwood’ for this bullsh*t?”
By the way, in case you haven’t been watching, it turns out that Sookie (Anna Paquin) is a fairy, which means that this season gave us what I can only assume was the first vampire-vampire-werewolf-fairy love square in television history. I’m gonna go ahead and guess that the series is based more on fan fiction than the Sookie Stackhouse novels.
