Anne Hathaway hosted this weekend’s episode of “Saturday Night Live,” and the entire episode was downright not terrible. I’d even go so far as to call it “good,” as long as you discount the politically-themed cold open (I’m getting into the habit of fast-forwarding through the first sketch).
Anyway, Hathaway’s Katie Holmes impression will probably get the most buzz, but my favorite sketch was “Visting the Queen.” I always enjoy a comical blue-collar British accent, but it’s even funnier coming from a man pretending to be the Queen of England. Also included in my highlight reel below:
- Mega Mart’s Black Friday commercial starring Bobby Moynihan. Reminiscent of the YouTube classic PowerThirst, and in general more things need to remind me of PowerThirst.
- The Thanksgivies: an awards show honoring people who have ruined Thanksgiving. This video is a WEB EXCLUSIVE!, which is a nice way of saying it didn’t make the cut for the live show. But I enjoyed it.
Continue below for all the Hulu videos that the Canadians can’t watch. And a caveat: the headline is deliberately misleading, so you won’t see a KATIE HOLMES-ANNE HATHAWAY NUDE LESBIAN SEX SCENE.

I can’t help it. I love the Miley Cyrus Show sketch. It’s out of my hands.
I am in love with Anne Hathaway. And not the ‘I want to bone her till she can’t walk’ kind of love either. I want to do sweet things for her. Like sing to her and brush her hair……while she sucks my cock.
I completely agree with the sketches you picked as the best, loved the Mega-Mart one
DG, I’m with you. The whole “I’m sexy now” thing killed me!
And Anne’s Katie Holmes impression was spot on. It was like being in middle school and watching Dawson’s Creek, minus Dawson’s huge head.
I agree, DG. I find The Miley Cyrus Show skit funny. I’ve gotten dirty looks when admitting this in public, though.
PS – I even laughed at Fred Armisen’s deleted Wizard of Oz character, The Weathervane. Whew. I feel like I’m coming out of the comedy closet here.
like this one or that one or this one over here…I want to hump her leg
I thought it was Miley for the first minute. I then called my friend and told him to stop playing Call of Duty to watch the skit. Never in America has anyone been told to stop playing COD to watch SNL. It was worth it.
anyone else think Florence (of + the machine) was hitting the sauce before she sang?
Florence + The Machine was disappointing, sounded horrible, but I do like the studio version of that single (first song)
Hey Canada: [hotspotshield.com]
Solid episode- working class brittish accents are comedy gold. Even the tired Penelope recurring character seemed to work.
It was a lofty SNL episode. Now if they could only do that on a weekly basis.
I was going to post about this episode, but now I don’t have to because you just said exactly what I was going to! It’s like we’re the same person!
ps.. How about all that naked Paz goodness last night? Truly we are blessed.
the thanksgivies was awesome, that should have made the show becuase thats an instant classic. Lifetime achievement was too funny.
Yeah, the Thanksgivies were great. Wanna know why it wasn’t in the final cut? Because it was 6:40, was continuously funny and (likely) wasn’t written by Seth Meyers. Therefore, it was terrible in the eyes of the showrunners.
I have to admit that Jay Pharoah is an amazing impressionist. I loved his Jay-Z and how he got Biggie’s lisp down. His Biggie voice just wasn’t deep enough or it’d be perfect.
But I actually yelled at the TV when they were talking about white people’s Thanksgiving songs. Yes, there is one. It was created ON THIS SHOW. FOR THIS RECURRING SKIT. Jesus God. Adam Sandler’s Thanksgiving song is a classic.
