Following years of catering to old people, the NFL has decided to instead appeal to a younger, dumber audience by naming the Black Eyed Peas the next Super Bowl halftime act. Let’s get a blockquote started in here:
Since forming in 1995, The Black Eyed Peas have sold more than 28 million albums worldwide and nearly 31 million digital tracks. Their new album, “The Beginning,” is set for release Tuesday.
Last year’s featured performer was The Who. Other halftime acts have included U2, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Paul McCartney and Prince. [AP/ESPN]
Like most people with taste, I’m repulsed by the Black Eyed Peas’ sound, but I can’t really get worked up about them playing halftime of the Super Bowl. I mean, it’s not like the other finalists for the gig were Arcade Fire and The National. Let’s just be thankful it’s not Bieber.
