Betty White turned 89 this week, and she celebrated by appearing on Letterman and admitting that one of her hobbies was “vodka.” That’s when Dave busted out the bottle of Grey Goose and poured a couple glasses. I can’t say I approve of the choice of vodka (if you must drink such a boring spirit, at least make it Russian Standard), but I have to credit Letterman for making sure the label was turned away from the camera.
In the grand tradition of drinking on television, this doesn’t measure up to Joel McHale swigging Macallan and making fun of Kathie Lee and Hoda on “The Today Show,” but I definitely award Betty bonus points for still being cool at her age. Hell, she gets bonus points just for being alive at this point.

18 year old me would have started beating off if they were chugging Kamchatka vodka.
Wrinkly old people drinking on television? What is this, “Sex & the City”?
@Enrico
Whereas however-old-you-are-now-you just started beating off anyway?
I’m glad they cut out the part where she poured the rest of the bottle over Bea Arthur’s grave and yelled, “Who gets the last laugh? b-wizzle does.”
Sir, if you please, it is The Macallan.
No, DG, because I’d actually want to drink with these old people.
Doesn’t Letterman already have interns to bang?
that is one hip, hip lady
Pfft. Shoulda shotgunned a 4loko.
I know I’m late on this, but if I knew I’d be competent and funny and could drink vodka at 89 years I’d be one happy guy.
dude, i don’t like grey goose either, way overrated for the price, when all they did was run it through an extra filter before bottling.
usually if something is advertised, it is not that great, like the money that should’ve been spent on developing the product was spent on ads, like absolut has a pretty bottle, but tastes like crap without mix, and is the same price as silent sam, which i drink and is better, at $33 for a 40 oz.
wish i lived in the states, could try a whole variety of stuff without going poor.
patron, which i think is also a tad overrated, is $100 here for a bottle.
and that macallan here is $63 for the 10 year, all the way up to $650 for the 25 year.
can’t even treat myself without skipping a car payment.
