MTV to Make ‘Geordie Shore’ for U.K.

MTV is taking the concept of “Jersey Shore” over to the United Kingdom. Alas, since the U.K. doesn’t have a pool of Italian immigrants greasin’ up its population, the weird subset of humanity that they’ll target is Geordies, or people from the northeast of England, generally near Newcastle.

A spokesperson for MTV said: “We want Newcastle’s hottest, funniest and fittest people for this exciting new show. We want people who are proud of their Geordie roots, love to party, are good-looking, can turn heads and are up for a laugh.”

This all sounds amazing, the only possible issue is that the Geordie accent (and dialect) can fairly hard to understand and so subtitles may be needed for some bits, or a translator. [heatworld]

The video above features a Geordie accent, and it is goddam impossible to figure out what the hell is going on. Feel free to try and translate it, but it’s like listening to a Canadian read a Robert Burns poem. Even when you can figure out which words are being said, they don’t make any sense when you put them together — kind of like a Yahoo Serious festival.
