The good news is that NBC is pulling the execrable “Perfect Couples” from its Thursday night comedy block. The bad news is that it’s being replaced by Paul Reiser’s long-shelved sitcom, “The Paul Reiser Show.”
NBC’s The Paul Reiser Show has the actor playing a version of himself and replaces the struggling Couples on the network’s Thursday lineup at 8:30 p.m. NBC is yanking the Couples… with at least two episodes left in the can — which you can pretty much bet means the show is canceled.
The single-camera comedy from Reiser and Jonathan Shapiro (Life) has Reiser playing “Paul Reiser.” It’s been a few years after his TV show left primetime and Reiser lives with his wife (Amy Landecker) and kids and hangs out with a new group of fellow local dads. [EW]
Say what you will about “Perfect Couples” — its jokes fell flat, the relationships were two-dimensional, none of the characters’ friendships were remotely believable — but at least it gave us an occasional glimpse of Olivia Munn’s cleavage. That’s automatically a step up from “The Paul Reiser Show,” which is just going to be 22 minutes of the same boob. I’m more likely to laugh at news of my mother’s death than anything Paul Reiser does. I mean, who knows? Maybe my mom will break her neck on a unicycle at clown college.

NBC is great at making a bad situation even worse.
God dammit, NBC! Why do you insist on separating Community from your other decent shows with a moat of suck?
On the bright side, you know this will get cancelled, too. And Perfect Couples’ failure makes me happy either way.
I don’t even recall NBC’s ultimatum. I am certain that if I was told or even hinted that this would be the result, I would have watched EVERY SINGLE EPISODE of Perfect Couples on EVERY TV IN MY HOUSE!
Damn, Seriously? Give Couples a chance! Munn and her husband (the male one) are good. Last weeks episode was funny! A Paul Reiser show…now?! I liked Mad About You, but that shit does not age well…I can imagine how “fresh” his shtick is now…

Short term, this is bad news, but long term, it’s slightly brighter. As Patty Boots said, this show will get cancelled too, hopefully causing Paul Reiser to cry and fall into a suicidal depression. Win Win.

I’m hoping that, when this inevitably fails, NBC cuts the comedy block back down to just 2 hours of funny shows, like it should be.
Assuming that Outsourced also gets cancelled. And it should.

Wow, Paul Reiser! Very cutting edge NBC. They should scrap the entire Thursday night lineup and give shows to Richard Lewis, Elayne Boosler and Gallagher and call it 80s night at the Improv.
This all could have been avoided if they had kept “My Name is Earl” on.

I also watched an episode of Perfect Couples after shitting on it for weeks, and I laughed out loud A LOT. I was kind of shocked. I’d rather see Outsourced die a million deaths than kill off Perfect Couples so quickly. It may not fit in with its lineup-mates, but it’s really not that bad.

I would have watched Perfect Couples religiously (even though Munn’s husband looks like Marmalard) if I’d known the consequences. This is like finding out I have cancer after thousands of delicious cigarettes. Wait. Whatever. The point is Paul Reiser is like cancer.
I’ve hated Paul Reiser since My Two Dads. More of a Greg Evigan fan.
Simple solution:
Pull Other Couples and Outsourced
Replace with The Allison Brie Show which will consist of Allison:
-Trying on Sexy Outfits
-Dancing
-Jumping up and down
-Anything else hot
