The last time Zach Galifianakis hosted “Saturday Night Live,” he shaved his beard for the show’s final sketch. This time around, he got a Mr. T haircut during the final commercial break (watch backstage video below). I pity the fool who sat through both of Jessie J’s performances.
As for the rest of the episode, this is going to shock you: there were some memorable laughs and also some terrible sketches. I thought this could’ve been a little bit tighter, but it hit some high notes and — most importantly — WASN’T A COLD OPEN ABOUT POLITICS. We need to applaud “SNL” every time they don’t open with a fake C-SPAN clip.

This is the sort of borderline sketch that’s a dud with a lesser host but works because of Galifiankis’s comic chops. But no one on the planet could have made the Canadian entertainment show funny.
