The death of "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn has sparked an unusual war of words on the Internet. There seem to be three dissenting camps in the wake of Dunn's fiery death by exploding Porsche: (1) Roger Ebert and other people unsympathetic to Dunn's death because his reckless (and possibly drunk) driving killed himself and his passenger, and endangered others on the road; (2) desensitized Internet jokesters happy to make his death a meme ("I'm Ryan Dunn, and this is Drunken Porsche Inferno"); and (3) "Jackass" fans so hurt by the tragedy that they can't or won't acknowledge that someone who made a living doing stupid, dangerous stunts died doing something stupid and dangerous.
For what it's worth, I'm more aligned with those first two camps than the third, but I certainly enjoyed Dunn's work as an entertainer, and I echo everything that Spencer Hall wrote in his short but touching tribute for SB Nation. I think this is quite unusual in the way of “How has this not happened sooner?” I mean… really? These guys do some of the dumbest shit that would probably kill any ordinary person.

I’ve seen the first two Jackass movies and the show a number of times. I can name Knoxville, Bam, Steve-O, and Wee-Man … but this guy? No offense, but … no.

The name was vaguely familiar but I remembered the face, of all the jackass fraternity he seemed the most human and relatable. I’m sad he’s dead. Everyone else’s death just seems like the inevitable last paragraph on their wikipedia page.
Personally I was a big fan of Ryan Dunn & am appalled by the disrespect on this page. He may not have made an impact on your life but he surely did mine. I also wish that everyone would just stop talking about him & let him rest in peace, especially those who knew nothing of him & have nothing nice to say. i used to watch MTV if only for whatever the Jackass guys did and even followed Dunn’s career from Jackass, to the circlejerking Viva La Bam (where you’d see why Bam Margera cried like a little bitch on camera–definite “bromance” there) to the really not so fantastic “homewrecker” show.
He was a funny, down to earth kind of guy, but that doesnt excuse anyone from drinking and driving and taking someone down with you. Famous funnyman or not, that was a real dumb fucking move.

I can’t believe someone actually said that Adam Dunn had an “impact” on their life. Really? He changed your life, somehow? Did you pull wisdom from Dunn, as he was pulling a toy car out of his anus? The only persons life that this guy impacted was the guy sitting next to him in that Porsche.
