The NBC sitcom based on Chelsea Handler’s book Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea has fired three of the show’s main actors. Unfortunately, Chelsea Handler is not one of those people.
Sources confirm to [TV Line] that nearly half of the show’s ensemble — including White Collar alum Natalie Morales, onetime ER nurse Angel Laketa Moore and Chelsea Lately staple Jo Koy — have been let go. A spokesperson for the show confirmed that the trio would not be moving forward with the series for creative reasons. Their characters are currently being reconceived. [TV Line]
In case you’re not familiar enough with those names to match them to faces, Morales plays Laura Prepon’s best friend/realtor person in the clip above, Moore plays Prepon’s black coworker, and Koy — a friend of Handler’s who’s appeared on “Chelsea Lately” 38 times — is the particularly unfunny bald guy.
It’s a small step in the right direction for “Vodka,” which is slated for a midseason debut. Too small of a step. It’s like firing three deck hands on the Titanic.

Can we please fire Prepon’s blonde hair and have her go back to being a firecrotch?
this show is exactly why I hate the entertainment industry.
oh how I hate traditional sitcoms.
Good thing Koy was fired. He said the word faggot during one of his stand ups. Hatemonger!
This looks terrible, and I really like Natalie Morales so I’m glad she escaped the impending Black Hole of SUCK that this will be…
I turn to Paul Mooney for all of my Titanic facts.
There is no way in hell I’m watching one second of that clip.
@UU I tried to watch the whole thing. I made it two and a half minutes before I felt myself starting to throw up.
DAMMIT, EVAN CHAMBERS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO YOUR CAREER?
I agree with Dr. Kronner. I liked Natalie Morales as Lucy on Parks and Rec and on White Collar, even though she essentially got replaced on that too. But this is just plain awful. This looks worse than Love Bites.
i had no idea this was a thing that existed, and my day is ruined. i sat thru her god-awful stand-up act several times back when it was my job…female comic jokes of “my vagina, my vagina, i bang so many black guys, i get drunk and black out everyday my vagina, my vagina” aren’t funny once, and you really start to question your place in this world after you hear it for the 6th time in 4 days.
On the one hand, it sucks that Natalie Morales (who was the awesome DubDub on the Middleman) is out of a job.
On the other hand, she has escaped this obvious crapfest and will hopefully go on to better things.
Perhaps it makes me a horrible person, but I watched about 2 1/2 minutes of the clip and didn’t laugh until (both of) Chelsea Handler’s jokes.
Yes, yes it does make me a horrible person.
Chelsea Handler is the Kathy Griffin of 2005-2010.
Chelsea Handler is the Elayne Boozler of 1980-1985.
It’s a shame about Natalie Morales who I loved as Mz. Chestington in The Waterslide Factory.
They’re panicking over this and not the god awful Whitney Cummings vehicle?
dear god that’s just terrible. i thought nbc was tired of being in last place?
@Hawkins Exactly. Then again, the eff do I care? The only good shows are on cable except for maybe Modern Family. It’s not like NBC has been chock full of quality for … ever?
NBC still has two of my favorite comedies on TV in Community and Parks & Rec.
And while cable pretty much has a monopoly on quality dramas, comedies are largely found on networks. FX would be the big exception to that with the hilarious Archer, fantastic Louie, cult-hit Always Sunny, and promising Wilfred.
Ha ha…the dude playing the prison guard at 0:40 is a porn star.
I make myself sick, too.
Damn you Matt for not putting a NSFYFB warning at the beginning of your post. NSFYFB of course means not safe for your funny bone cause that video preview made me tinkle in my skinny jeans with laughter! I haven’t laughed that hard since I watched the trailer for Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. That Matthew Mcconaughey is a hoot!
WE LOVE JO KOY, sorry, sad:(
