Our society’s morals, ethics, and priorities are seriously askew when temper tantrums are thrown about about a manipulative, egocentric actor who did not get his way (making multi-millions in the process), yet we fail to support our underpaid, overworked, and under-appreciated teachers who are molding the minds of our future.
I hope the new show is a hit withOUT Sheen. I hope Kutcher does an exceptional job and the writers bring a new and interesting twist to the show. When I first heard that Ashton was replacing Charlie Sheen I knew it wasn’t going to work. First of all Ashton is no where near as good of an actor as Charlie and point blank Charlie made the show. Network execs. Please wake up!

Good comments, Something New and Rambo4. I am not a Ashton K. fan. I did like Punk’d, but did not enjoy his rants. Never saw That 70′s Show, but I have seen him in other things, and his humor is a bit strange. Charlie Sheen lost this job himself, with all of his antics. You just don’t disrespect your boss while you’re still employed there.
I do believe, though, that it will be more important to continue to have exceptional writing, than to just have Charlie Sheen. Whether this show succeeds or fails, will rely more on this writing, than AK’s performances. I also agree that it will be important to give side characters, like Rose and Bertha more screen time and development. They really added to each scene.
One thing that has always bothered me though, is why in the world is Alan so poor? I mean, He’s a chiropractor with his own business! If he only saw 5 patients a day, and only charged 100 dollars each, he’d earn 2500 a week, or 130,000 a year. (and these figures are quite low, especially for California) His first wife got remarried, so no more alimony, which was shown on the show, and he wasn’t married long enough to wife 2 to have to pay alimony. Child support for one kid can’t be 125k a year…
So this is what the mindless humans do for entertainment! Clearly, no socially redeeming qualities whatsoever. As for whether to keep them as pets or not, I vote for extermination.

I’ve been reading the comments…. I can’t believe that anyone is still so hung up on Charlie Sheen. The office is still funny without Michael Scott, and he is much harder to replace the sheen.

I have gradually lost interest in 2.5 men over he last few years because the show has made Alan dark and mean. The appeal of 2.5 has always been Alan’s sanctimonious good verses Charlies narcissistic corrupt side. Jake was fun as the dumb kid. Since Alan became more gay and dark the show is not as funny. I think Rob Lowe would have been better than Kutcher. My prediction, 2.5 will be gone in a year not because of Charlie Sheen not being there, but because the writing is getting so bad.

It amazes me, that any of you are supporting an abusive, drug addled, egotist. Maybe he is mentally ill, and forgot his legal meds, but he is still an abusive man.
John is a comedic genius. If you actually analyze the show, you will see that it’s John who makes it great. He combines physical comedy, with slapstick, and throws in a bit of philosophy. Charlie, on the other hand, plays himself. The show is a parody of his real life. The writers only had to write his part using his real life as a template.
John, on the other hand, is a complex character, and I’m sure the writers had much more fun writing his parts than Charlie’s. He is what makes Charlie’s character work. If you’ve ever seen him on shows being himself, he is humble, intelligent and funny. Charlie, as exhibited by his failed “tour”, is just a d**k.
As for Ashton, I would say he is a businessman, he seems kind and he got the woman he wanted. Perhaps, it’s just sour grapes on the part of some of you men, because he seems to have it all, including GQ good looks, lots of money, and acting ability.

Charlie Sheen is an arrogant, drunk a$$. He’s overpaid (as most actors are) to do a stupid job. Having said that, the show was funny (mostly because of the interaction between him and and Cryer. Who cares what he does on his own time. He will probably get killed driving drunk one day, that’s his choice. No one watches this show for the intellectual dialog. It’s about two brothers that get on each others nerves but still care about each other. Ashton was funny as a dumb good looking teenager. His career has been over ever since he left That 70s show. He not funny anymore.

Charlie was the show, I’ve watched it since day 1, it was the only program I have ever made my best effort to sit down and watch. I don’t want to wish anyone bad luck but..I won’t be tuning in without the star, all good things end sooner or later.
