Because I’m a lazy person who watched “The Simpsons” throughout college instead of developing good work habits, I’m a little late getting to this story, but it still warrants attention: Fox’s parent company News Corp. is considering creating a channel that would air nothing but “Simpsons” episodes.
The company’s chief operating officer Chase Carey hinted at the idea at an entertainment conference last week. According to the Los Angeles Times, Carey noted that News Corp. has had “a number of meetings” to figure out how best to continue profiting from their Simpsons library. He brought up the thought of an all-Simpsons channel, saying it wasn’t a lock. [...]
“[T]his is a unique franchise…and it provides us a unique opportunity to do some interesting things with it,” Carey vaguely mentioned days later in New York, leaving the door open to much speculation. [...] ”We think there is a bigger opportunity than just a second syndication cycle,” he said. “We have an opportunity to do something truly unique.” [NewsFeed]
Hell yes this should happen. That ish would be on 24/7 in my house. You know how a lot of people and businesses just have Fox News or CNN on all day long? That would be me with the “The Simpsons” – there would be a lot of low-volume “D’oh!” and “Woo-hoo” until I shushed everybody and turned the volume up for a good episode. “Quiet, everybody! We’re missing the cook-off!”

“It’s just a little airborne! It’s still good it’s still good!!”
Good god- this could be the greatest thing since NFL Redzone.
Classic Simpsons episodes are better than 99.9% of the shit they show on TV these days. Yup, I’d pay an extra five bees a month to get this channel.
*Goes home and shoots collection of Simpsons DVDs with handgun.
I like to have the Simpsons on in syndication every now and then when hanging out…..
And “every now and then” refers to when they are airing the first dozen seasons give or take…..the rest of the months it usually stays off.
So as long as they mix it up, I am all for a Simpsons channel.
Woo-Hoo. They are so Smart! They are so Smart! S-M-R-T, I mean S-M-AR-T!
“So as long as I am breathing and/or have a pulse, I am all for a Simpsons channel.”
Fixed that for you, TFBF.
When I was in college a local station showed four episodes a night (5:00 and 5:30, 7:00 and 7:30) and had the awesomeness to show them in order. Halfway through season 1 I started taping them and got the entire run on like 14 LP tapes. I watched the shit out of those tapes in college. Getting stoned, playing Tribes, and watching the Simpsons – my college memories.
kuff6, Come on man….seriously….if all they shower were episodes from the 14th season on, no one would ever watch it.
Sorry….that should be “showed”….wife….wet…soap….
I have to go.
@Buzz Killington
So, I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time…
the perfect tv channel would show nothing but Simpsons, Seinfeld, Friends and Scruibs reruns all day, Hollywood Jews let’s make this happen!
Watanabex, Aside from the Simpsons and Scrubs, you just described TBS.
I wish they would let Seinfeld and Friends go already. Bring them back sometime in the future….but Jesus, they have been on in syndication, nonstop, for like 15 years.
This is so close to a dream come true. Only in my dream there is a 24/7 Simpsons channel and the commercials are Seinfeld episodes…. I wish I dreamed about girls like a normal boy.
Are we going to get that Flanders spin-off yet?
There’ll be a Crime & Punishment Channel first……
….or did they already do that on The Food Channel..?
Simpsons Channel- Teacher, mother, secret lover.
“Carey noted that News Corp. has had “a number of meetings” to figure out how best to continue profiting from their Simpsons library. ”
They should go back and digitally remaster them, dubbing “NOOOOO” when Homer said “D’oh!”
Truly unique, as in burning up your franchise so it will be dead in two years. Good plan.
James L. Brooks said on the Kevin Pollak Chat Show that this likely was not happening.
I wanted this so badly when I was little! Better late then never
