I interrupt today’s Emmy news to mention say, very briefly, HOLY CRAP. On a night when TV’s biggest awards show passed over “Breaking Bad” due to its 14-month layover, the AMC drama aired one of its most tense and shocking episodes in a series filled with tense and shocking episodes. Without giving you a recap or talking spoilers, I’ll just say that it’s amazing the way the writers and actors have been able to manipulate or sympathies as the characters slowly change over the course of seasons. This time next year, I’ll be setting things on fire if Giancarlo Esposito isn’t nominated for an Emmy alongside Aaron Paul for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama. I loved the way he did this and then collapsed like Westley in The Princess Bride.
Anyway, I gotta get back to editing red carpet pictures. I just wanted to talk about actual TV for a second. Feel free to have it out in the comments.

Gustavo is one bad-a$$ mofo. Gus’s plan seemed obvious once the Don opened the box (esp. after his “addict” comment regarding Jesse), but the scene was still intense. And his clean-up in the bathroom nicely mirrored his clean-up after Box Cutter.
There was SO MUCH to like in this episode, but when Jesse put the cartel chemist in his place as Gus and Mike looked on while only just barely showing their looks of approval was quite satisfying.
Absolutely amazing!! Gustavo rules
Breaking Bad needs to take over Best Supporting Actor, Modern Family-style. Paul, Esposito, Dean Norris and Jonathan Banks have all done fantastic work this year.
I would like to see jesse mike bust caps at least once an episode.
@BBW — Plus, you could argue that Walt’s been relegated to supporting character.
Also Bob Odenkirk for best guest actor and Schuyler as BSA. She has done solid work in replacing Betty Draper as TVs most hated wife.
The whores hauling ass outta there with armfulls of money got me gigglin’.
Also Gus may have replaced Ben Linus as my favorite dead-eyed, blood thirsty evil genius.
How did Don Eladio make it this far by going around drinking anything given to him by someone who has every
reason to exact revenge? I understand that Gus drank it first, but I still would have been suspicious. Maybe he’s an alcoholic. He probably should get that fixed before he hurts himself or others.
I stopped reading after the mention of this past Sunday’s ep. being so awesome (haven’t seen it yet and thanks for the heads up so I don’t read any possible spoilers)…but just reading those sentences made me want to FIST PUMP!
I’m assuming this episode featured a lot of Creed Bratton.
So, so, so fucking good.
Just watched it. Was really good.
The pills Gus took must have been an antidote to the stuff in the bottle yes? So why throw up?
@ Smegga
Not an antidote. More likely the pills offered a protective coating, or slowed down the poison from entering the body, hence why even after throwing up Gus still got sick. My guess is the stuff Gus used doesn’t have an antidote, only treatment.
Also…….. god, I almost want Gus to win in the inevitable Walt/Gus showdown.
@Smegga.
Obviously not an antidote, otherwise he wouldn’t have collapsed. Most likely Charcoal pills to absorb a majority of the toxins before vomitting the rest out.
Thanks guys. I know the pills had a grey/brown look to them so it makes sense that they were protective of the stomach lining.
