Around these parts, we like to make fun of CBS for its large stable of copy-and-paste police procedurals and multi-camera comedies that pander to the lowest common denominator — it’s the only way that we can sleep at night knowing that those shows are massively popular. How popular?
According to Nielsen ratings data from Sept. 19 through Oct. 9, CBS has 20 of the top 30 shows among the broadcast networks in total viewership, making CBS the first network to accomplish such a feat. It was also the number one network in average viewership and in the 18-to-49-year-old demographic. Stalwarts “NCIS” and “NCIS: LA” certainly helped the network’s cause on Tuesday, garnering 18.7 million viewers and 15.4 million respectively. [NY Times]
Can we siphon off some of the Occupy Wall Street protesters and send them to CBS headquarters? The 99% need to realize that there are other channels with shows that don’t have laugh tracks and tell stories about people who aren’t cops. This is important, dammit.

Plus the added bonus of watching CBS executives to yell at the dirty hippies to get off the lawn
Nothing against any of the individual shows on CBS, but who the hell is watching NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles and CSI: Classic and CSI: Miami as appointment TV?
I’d prefer to occupy the homes of the slack-jawed dipshits who watch the drivel that CBS churns out until they turn to better TV. I assume these homes are located in middle america somewhere.
I know plenty of otherwise sophisticated people who actually watch CBS. It’s an issue of them not spending as much time thinking about TV, and the network is something pleasant to have in the background. Pleasant enough that advertisers want to get their collective feet in the door to reach these people. CBS has found a money-making system similar to Donald Sterling of the Clippers wherein mediocrity pays off.
In conclusion, Community should lure in viewers with Hypnotoad
All glory to the hypnotoad.
Stupid funny. With no laugh track, don’t know when something funny. HARF HARF HARF
According to my DVR, CBS has 0 of the top 30 shows among shows I actually fucking watch, making me realize that if it entirely ceased to exist I wouldn’t bat an eye.
Terra Nova (Fox) is basically CSI: Cretaceous.
So thank goodness at least one network is making good shows….
There won’t be a wall-street-like meltdown until we start repackaging these shows and selling them to Iceland
looks at Hulu
