Good ol’ NMA Media — everyone’s favorite slap-dash Taiwanese animation crew — has tackled NBC’s ratings woes (video below). And man, do things get dark in a hurry. As we all know, NBC is in the ratings basement, but apparently “basement” in English translates to “torture dungeon” in Taiwanese or Mandarin. The NBC logo is chained up and stabbed with spears, rescuers representing the Olympics and the Super Bowl get knifed in the back, and a Playboy bunny representing “Playboy Club” gets bloodily decapitated.
NMA has always played fast and loose with its metaphors, but I’m not a fan of this dark turn it’s taken. I liked it better when it had more fun imagery, like Jeff Zucker getting hit by a bus.

Am I the only one who doesn’t appreciate these videos?
I would feel significantly better about this post and that clip id I wasn’t certain this isn’t going to end with NBC shelling out ridiculous bank to hire some CBS flunky to come in and morph the network into CBS 2,0 (i.e. the axing of Community and Parks and Rec)
Needs more Ron Swanson inexplicably chopping down a tree labeled “Whitney.”
If this results in Parks and Rec being cancelled, so help me God, I’ll release the monkeys and nobody wants that.
wow, several grammar and spelling errors in my above post. Guess I should stop drinking before lunch. (will not stop drinking before lunch)
I really hope NBC takes a stand here and just sticks with their most lauded programming (Parks & Rec and Community) rather than bowing to current trends only to have it inevitably blow up in their faces. I’d like to think that eventually America will smarten up and realize the drivel being force-fed to them over on CBS isn’t legitimate entertainment.
Granted, none of the above will ever happen (especially the smarter America thing), but NBC is in a position where it’s probably going to fail if they reboot everything anyway, so why not ride this out and hope the mouth-breathing masses finally come around on the critically acclaimed comedies. You could argue that Thursday night is their only good night anyway.
NBC has a couple good shows, yes, but everything else is shit, shittier than the usual shit. The Sing Off? I mean… come on. Are they even trying?
You’re not a fan? You’re alone there.
I have heard, but don’t know for certain, that a lot of NBC shows do better on DVR, HULU, iTunes etc. than on live tv. That may be a function of having a younger, more tech savvy demographic.
Reached for comment, NBC representatives said, “Damnit! That clip has more hits than we have viewers!”
Shortly thereafter, the Taiwanese animators were hired in time for February sweeps.
Oh, and that’s one sexy logo. Nice legs.
I watched this clip while playing the Sims 3 …I’m very confused? What happened to my Andrew W.K Sim? Why is the comcast knight not endlessly wetting himself in a door-less room?
