Psych (USA) — Season 6 premiere. I’ve enjoyed Malcolm McDowell in so many things over the last couple years — “Franklin & Bash,” Easy A, “Metalocalypse,” even (sigh) “Entourage” — that it’s easy to forget that he was mutha-effin’ Alex in A Clockwork Orange. What a badass.
Work of Art: The Next Great Artist (Bravo) — Season premiere. Can we do away with unnecessary post-colon subtitles? I may be stupid, but I’m not so braindead that I need every facet of a show spelled out in the title. “We feel that ‘Work of Art’ doesn’t sufficiently explain that this is about works of art being created by people — artists, we call them — and that the winner will be the best ‘artist’ of those on the show. Perhaps even… the next great artist!”
Happy Endings (ABC) — Megan Mullally guest stars as Penny’s (Casey Wilson) upbeat mother.
America’s Next Top Model (CW) — The Kardashian sisters — Kim, Kourtney, and Khewbacca — make a vacant-eyed appearance to watch the contestants model, while LaToya Jackson (???) oversees a photo shoot.
Modern Family (ABC) — David Cross guest stars as a town councilman going up for reelection — against Claire (Julie Bowen). Me likey.
LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Bill Clinton on Letterman; Zooey Deschanel on Leno; Rob Lowe and Idris Elba on Kimmel; Jim Parsons on Ferguson; Alan Cumming and Michael Phelps on Fallon; Evan Rachel Wood on Chelsea; Stevn Ho and Michael C. Hall on Conan.

McDowell should figure out a way to work a rendition of “Singing in the Rain” into his later works.
@Bobby Big Wheel: I like that idea, but it needs to be so subtle that it’s practically unrecognizable. Maybe have him whistle some Beethoven, or put in eyedrops, or complain that the lighting is too dim, or something like that. In last week’s “Castle” they had one of the characters slip in a “You’ve changed, Phil,” which I thought was pretty brilliant.
I once pointed out to my girlfriend that I went to college with that dude from “Psych.” She very nonchalantly said, “He looks like the sort of guy that got a lot of ass.” She was right.
The return of Psych really shouldn’t make me as giddy as it actually does. I think this speaks to the lingering shittiness of late-summer/early-fall offerings.
The ABC comedies are really kicking butt in the guest star department tonight.
MORE LIKE “WORK OF FART,” RIGHT EVERYBODY?
@The White Boom Boom: which one, Gus or Shawn? My friend went to high school with Shawn and described him as his “nemesis.”
I banged my high school nemesis. Most satisfying abortion ever.
Work of Art is a great show! Glad it got another run. Give it a chance!
“David Cross guest stars as a town councilman”
I hope there’s ice cream cake.
Yeah, Work of Art subtitle may be dumb, but the first season was pretty good. The last 3 artists were really talented in their own right, and the show avoid some of the lamest clichés of this kind of formula.
I want to thumbs up Alcoholics’ post, but all I have is this big back of +1s… so sad…
*bag. Damn whiskey…
Is anyone else is watching (and enjoying) Happy Endings, or am I the only one?
@Dick Happy Endings is solid, din’t care for last night but one of my favourite shows.
Television needs more David Cross. Provided he stays the hell away from Whitney and Last Man Standing.
@Zack I’ve never seen the show, but it’s the one up on the right of the banner pic.
Who is watching “Up All Night”…..?
@Dick
Love Happy Endings- best new show of last year and season 2 has been solid. My girlfriend and I keep old episodes on DVR just to show it to people who come over; the same way normal couples might show pictures of their vacation or kids.
also where is my avatar?
Alex DeLarge REMIXX *record scratch* in a Workaholics episode would be a wet day dream for me. I don’t care how much of a manchild this exposes me as.
@MattK&Chazz
Yeah, I thought so. It has its flaws (they tend to drag some jokes out) but I find it really funny. And Wayans Jr. deserve a lot more applause than its name should allow him to. Also Elisha Cuthbert. And plus, Eliza Coupe.
