Last night, I emailed Matt to see if he had anything planned for his last day. He explained that he had something he was going to do, but it fell through due to extenuating circumstances and other obligations. It made me sad to think that
there might be nothing today that was special or noteworthy to celebrate the past few years of enjoyment he provided all of us on this blog. And, on a more personal level, I wanted to do something nice to thank him for giving me a chance to blabber about TV on here as his fill-in. If that doesn’t happen, then I don’t get invited to be part of the team that’s running the show going forward, and then my school loans likely go unpaid. Unless I got, like, a real job or something. [shudders]
So anyway, I woke up this morning and put together this video. It’s a collection of some of the best GIFs we’ve seen on the site, including all our old friends: Alison Brie, Don Draper, Khal Drogo, Ron Swanson, the lady who got dumptrucked in the face by a watermelon, etc. Also, there are lots of cute dogs and brutal violence. My original thought was to set this video to “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men (because that’s pretty much always my original thought), but then I realized that today shouldn’t be about mourning what we’re all losing when Matt leaves, it should be about celebrating what we had. Also, I kind of love this song. Whatever, like you’re so great.
Feel free to leave your well wishes and thanks in the comments. Let’s send the dude out with a bang.

Last time you suggested sending a dude out with a bang poor Punte had to use a wheelchair for a week.
He deserves one last bang before he gets married. *rim shot*
Good luck Matt!
Out with a bang? Like, a TLC Virgin Diary bang? (humps keyboard awkwardly for 3 seconds ….aaaaand scene)
Let’s send the dude out with a bang bus.
thanks for the memories and mammaries, Matt.
Nice work, DG.
Fantastic work DG.
Farewell and good luck Matt. WG has been a place I knew I could come to to have a laugh even on the shittiest of days. Thank you.
/slow clap
/Standing ovation. Way to go DG.
On one hand, I’m touched by this gesture. On the other hand, it’s kind of embarrassing/jarring to see how much this blog relied on violence, corgis, and Alison Brie jiggling.
Thanks for the good times and death of my productivity, Matt. Best wishes.
Don’t forget alcohol played a big part too, it’s just less accessible visually.
“TV blog, eh? Well, I just have one question. What kind of TV blog is filled with violence, corgis, and Alison Brie jiggling?”
“Um… doh… Duh best damn TV blog in town!”
I could watch Ron Swanson dance in that hat for days.
Thanks DG and Matt.
Well, that just caused me to laugh out loud several times in my university’s library. Excellent work DG.
Again, thanks for everything Matt. Best of luck
Based on your proclivities, Matt, I’m guessing your kids will play hide and seek and yell “Corgi Orgy Alison Brie!” to indicate it’s safe to come out in the open.
how much this blog relied on violence, corgis, and Alison Brie jiggling
That’s a legacy to be proud of Matt. Thanks for the all the laughs, good show tips and general entertainment. Best of luck to you and the soon to be Mrs. Ufford in all your endeavors.
Well that’s it, the Internet has been broken. Nothing will top that video compilation ever. This is the tribute that Matt deserved. Good luck dude.
You’ll be missed Matt. Good luck over at KSK, please come back and do some guest blogging over here once in awhile.
Retirement is a primitive concept. I prefer to think of Matt as battling evil in another dimension.
Matt, I did’na cry when me father was hung for stealing a pig, but I’ll cry now. Good luck in the future and God bless you, you magnificent bastard! Ooh Rah!
Relevant: [www.youtube.com]
Thanks, DG. Fantastic job. We’re in good hands around here.
Matt, I’ve really enjoyed reading your work here (and elsewhere). Thanks for letting me half-ass it every day at my job (it’s the American way!). Good luck in your next venture!
it’s kind of embarrassing/jarring to see how much this blog relied on violence, corgis, and Alison Brie jiggling.
Or as I call them, the three pillars of the American Dream.
So long, and thanks for the gifs.
Will you still come by every once and a while to tell a bitchy commenter to fuck themselves?
Adios Mr. Ufford. Looking at animated gifs. of Allison Brie won’t be the same without you
**looks at Allison Brie gif, gets erection**
On second thought, it will be exactly the same. Best of luck man.
Also, once again, I will pay you handsomely if you somehow work this amazing video into your wedding. I think the little lady would be cool with it.
I’ll be damned if I didn’t get a lil’ choked up watching this. Thank you, Matt. Danger, you’ve just won everything.
Thanks Matt for some good writing, good humor and good dogs. Best of luck!
I just created an account to say thanks, Matt. I’ll probably never use it again.
/lurk
Thanks and best of luck Matt!
on my bad days and good days, I could always rely on WG for a good laugh, an awesome gif, or something sexy. thank you Matt, you’ve made my internet life better and I wish nothing but good fortune for you.
Wait, what’s happening? I got stuck between the 0:10-0:14 second mark and forgot what year it is.
Thanks for all the laughs, Matt. All kidding aside, good times on this blog.
I’ll be sure to keep reading your abuse of my Fat Humps over at KSK.
/Regular-Sized Hump
Also, don’t be embarrassed by all the Allison Brie jiggling.
Now, your mancrush on Timothy Olyphant…
I genuinely enjoyed your presentation and writing style. Good luck to you.
Thanks. Cool blog bro. Keep writing, you could be the next guy who makes us forget he has horrible throat cancer.
We still have KSK!
Manhattans, Manhattans for everyone!
So long, Matt. You’ll be missed.
Brilliant work DG.
I’m pretty sure Uff is part-Irish so I think a traditional toast is in order:
May you get all your wishes but one, so you always have something to strive for.
Bang up job on the video, DG.
Thanks for all the good work Mr. Ufford. The pinnacle of my WG time killing was when you told me I was a pussy for not liking Raphael because he was a moody dick with the shitty ass sai as weapons.
GLO-MO4LYFE!!
Good luck with whatever it is you decide to do from here on out. Thanks for starting WG, I’ve really enjoyed your takes on TV these last couple of years.
God speed, sir. May you never again be berated for not watching a particular show.
Thanks for all the laughs, as well as the rare bits of profundity. May all your ventures prove successful!
To Matt! The cause of, and solution to, all of my work related problems!
Good luck, Matt! May your corgis flop, your violence be gratuitous, and your glass be full. And then empty. And then full again. Repeat as needed.
+10000 Chazz. Matt had a way of articulating everything my brain had never thought before.
Like my grandfather says, the road to success is paved with corgis, violence, jiggling breasts, and more corgis. He used to say “hard work,” you know, before the stroke.
Good luck Matt and thanks for all the laughs.
By the way, I was wondering after all these years reading you here, at WL, and at KSK…were you in the Marines?
Matt,
You already know how I feel and how appreciative Brian & I are of your contributions to WG and to UpRoxx as a whole. See ya on KSK.
“it’s kind of embarrassing/jarring to see how much this blog relied on violence, corgis, and Alison Brie jiggling.”
/Does embarrassing mean awesome in some parts of the world?
To the new staff, I am super psyched for WG2.0!
I’m going to cry.
Good Luck Matt! Thanks for always providing me with laughs!
I always enjoyed your writing.
*CONFESSION*
I never understood the corgi fascination…
BRING BACK MATT!
/obligatory
Sad day, Matt.
I feel like I have to get something off my chest before you move on. I…I actually like Big Bang Theory.
There, I said it. It’s out in the open. I hope this doesn’t change the memory you have of our relationship.
Good luck Matt.
That video was glorious.
So long Matt, and God Speed. You will be missed.
/dickjoke
God damn it. Good look sir.
I’ve been around since the sites inception. I’m glad we’re in capable hands, but you will be missed. I feel like I’m 12 and my friend is moving.
Matt,
I have a been a dedicated reader for the past two years and this will be my first comment but last night I sacrificed like 6 goats and at least 4 chickens (that vodka/coke combo did a number on my memory) so that you will have nothing but success in the future. You made my boring, sluggish and dull days into something other than boring and dull; however you did more than just that. You brought laughter, awesome boob gifs(I <3 you Allison), and Ron Swanson into my life and for that I thank you. May your future be amazing and filled with attractive naked women.
That video was AWESOME!
Can we get one more Emily>Zooey before you go-go?
Matt, thank you for reconfirming my love / obsession for all things Community/ParksandRec/ArrestedDevelopment/GameofThrones/TheOffice/Corgis, post after post.
You will be missed. But like Celine says, the heart will go on. Best of luck in your other ventures!
Without this blog I wouldn’t know about Lobster Dog, let alone any of the other awesome dogs out there. So thanks for that.
I’m so afraid! Change is scary! What will happen to the Corgis?
May you enjoy both Deschanel sisters today.
Well played with the “Give the boy a hand” moment.
Godspeed.
Thanks for the great articles Uff. “Violence, corgis, and Allison Brie are a great way to go through life son” (*quote may be edited)
Nice finale, DG…but Matt, I’ll no longer have top cover for reading WG at work now, so thanks for ruining that deal for me. Vaya con Bozos…
If someone said, can you sum up WarmingGlow.com in 5 minutes or less, I’m directing them here. Good night and good chins to you Matt. It has truly been a glorious ride.
Good luck Matt, thanks for everything
DG, don’t you fck this up
…it’s kind of embarrassing/jarring to see how much this blog relied on violence, corgis, and Alison Brie jiggling.
God, it’s like we don’t even know you anymore!
Thank you Matt. You got me into Sons of Anarchy and for that I’ll forever be grateful.
Emily > Zooey
Well done, DG. Loved every second of it.
Great job here, Matt. My multiple visits a day to Warming Glow always added laughter and more television awareness (is that a thing?), and sometimes tears. Thank you, Matt, for your contribution to Internet culture. Good luck!
I too am a lurker but I have to chime in now and give props where props are due. Thank you Matt for all your hard work here and all over the interwebs. Thanks you WG I was able to jump on the Justified train at the beginning and you’ve turned me onto Community and Parks & Rec AND I can be all snobby when my wife watches her tripe, but she’s totally cool with it as soon as I remind her that WG brought her Raylan too. Good luck and God’s speed good Sir.
Here’s to the WG2.0 staff as well.
Also creating an account just to say thanks. This has been my favorite blog for a long time and I’m sad to see the reigns pass. Best of luck.
WG isn’t the same since Matt left.
/obligatory
Fine work DG.
/ sheds single tear
// pours multiple shots of whisky for Matt
/// drinks
Godspeed, sir.
Thank you for the corgis, the Allison Brie cleavage, the rad Game of Thrones .gifs, and most of all, for showing everyone how it’s done. Goodnight, sweet prince.
I’m pretty sure if I left anything at all, I’d want that exact video dedicated to me. It was perfect.
You’ll be missed, Matt.
Thanks, Matt. You’re really good at what you do This is a great place to hang out.
Zooey > Emily
Thanks Matt, good luck!
Thanks for the daily dick jokes for the last five years. It’s been a pleasure getting to know you and reading your posts.
Matt, thanks for running one of the few TV blogs to hardly ever give the Kardashians the time of day (not even 3 pages worth of posts!). This place is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise NBA-groupie-scented world.
Solid work, DG.
Thanks for everything Matt! I hardly ever leave any comments, but I got a lot of enjoyment out of your writing the past couple years since I found this blog, so I wanna wish you good luck on your future ventures. You’re a talented dude, you can go far in this Crazy Business of Blog.
Thanks for the years of hilarity. I have pretty much read every article on this website since it began as far as I know due to my tendency to read back through everything I haven’t seen every time I come on here and even if a lot of the talk was about tv I don’t watch, understand or even have access to being from the UK as I am I kept coming back because it was always so funny.
You will be greatly missed!
Oh and this site got me to watch Community, Archer, It’s Always Sunny, Boardwalk Empire and tons of others so thanks for that.
Thanks for everything, Matt. May your future be bright and Brie-filled.
Another lurker who signed up just to say thanks. Matt, it’s been a wild ride. Thanks for getting me through kindergarden.
Five year?!?! It’s been five years I’ve been reading this site?
Yeah, I may need to reevaluate my life choices.
But for real, Matt, good show and fuck off for leaving. May your first child be a masculine child.
A legacy of corgis and Alison Brie is something most men can only dream of. Thanks for all the good times, Matt.
I feel like Matt was watching the last episode of Entourage, and as the credits rolled, he got up off of the couch and said, “It’s finally over. My work here is done.” Then he stayed around a few extra months so we wouldn’t riot over him leaving.
Let’s send the dude out with a bang.
If we were in a bar right now I’d throw a drink right in your face. But under the circumstances it doesn’t sound like a bad idea…
Matt, Thanks for everything. I don’t know how I’d get through my boring office days if it weren’t for you recapping violence, corgis, and Alison Brie.
Best wishes Matt. I would send you a video I took of my hot EX GF getting naked, but I think my current girlfriend found it and deleted that file. So um…
*puts half drunk cup of coffee on table*
Cheers mate!
Thanks for all your work on the site Matt – without you we wouldn’t have had countless pictures of Corgis and Alison Brie Gifs. For that – we salute you!
Also good luck to DG and the others taking over the site. If tomorrow doesn’t feature a cornucopia of Corgis I will be hugely disappointed. Or something.
Thanks man, it’s been an entertaining ride. Your backup sucks but maybe they’ll grow into it. No offense?
Apparently the term for reading/enjoying a blog without ever commenting is called lurking. As a proud lurker for longer than I remember of WL and WG, it pains me to comment. But damnit Matt, thanks for keeping these blogs going for as long as you have. Good luck in your future endeavors, and I guarantee I’ll be lurking on anything else you start from here on out.
Many thanks for the hours of entertainment.
Please keep writing in some capacity, and keep us posted where and when so we can read it.
Good luck.
Good riddance!
I would’ve posted earlier, but I’ve spent all day in denial.
And now … no, wait. I’m going back to denial.
I started reading Warming Glow and KSK to see you in a rainbow speedo, and I continued reading (every day!) because of your wit and talent as a writer. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Thanks, Matt.
I am embarrassed by how upset I am over Matt leaving. Whatever man, I don’t need you…I have a bottle of rye with your name on it and I’M GOING TO DRINK THE WHOLE THING RIGHT NOW
thank you for everything matt
i am way too emotional considering i’ve never met you or even commented on the site before. someone said it earlier and it’s true, it feels like i’m a kid and my friend is moving away.
see you on ksk and best of luck in whatever come next
More like WarmingGuerrerow ammiright?!
Good luck to you Matt.
I often found you a bit over the top with your scathing thoughts on shows and social issues (TV execs probably don’t hate you specificaly!), but for the most part I agreed with you.
But you are funny and you are smart. I always came back for more because you entertained me… and sometimes made me actually think about stuff. (I swear that is a compliment)
Thanks to you I found FX, which along with local shows and NBC, made Thursdays my favorite night – a rerun of Simpsons, a rerun of Big Bang, Community, P&R, Office, rerun of 2 1/2 men, IASIP, Archer
I don’t know if it’s ok for a non-Marine to say “Semper Fi” to a Marine. If not, “Peace and Humptiness. Forever”
Thanks, Matt, for consistently making me laugh and for writing the only blog that shares my predilection for mocking people who make grammatical errors.
To Matt’s successors: you have your work cut out for you. I stopped reading With Leather a week after this place went live.
Thanks for the goodness, Mr. Ufford. I followed you from With Leather to Warming Glow… I guess I’ll just have to start stalking you in real life now.
/I already have been.
I am afraid. I am petrified.
Stay gold, Captain C. Stay. Fucking. Gold.
I’ll miss you, Matt. I don’t really know what else to say. This is my favorite blog outside of KSK’s Rex Ryan posts, and I blame you for all the fun. Take care.
/Slow Standing Ovation.
/dead hookers
Sorry to see you go Matt. I fell passionately in love when I first found out about With Leather and then Warming Glow quickly became my favorite blog. Are you still gonna be doing the KSK mailbag?
As a fellow lurker, I just wanted to say that you’ve done a great job and you will be greatly missed.
So long, and thanks for all the gifs…
Thanks for all the giggles and jiggles (mostly the giggles I’m not a perv Mr.!)
O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck, fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
Great job on the video, DG! I love that song and I don’t care who knows it.
Matt, I know others said it above, but I really did tell a friend that even though it I know it’s ridiculous because I’ve never met you, I feel like I felt when one of my Army Brat friends moved away. I will genuinely miss your brain being a part of my everyday routine.
And thanks for the reply on twitter! I instantly turned into a high school freshman who gets all excited that the quarterback knows her name and said hi.
Best wishes, and for the love of God please figure out a humiliating costume that does NOT involve form-fitting short-shorts for next year’s FGB.
As usual, like a whiskey tango hooker, I’m late and all sloppy here, but hey Matt — well done, both here at and WL. I’m amazed at how much time I’ve spent soaking up your corgis, booby gifs, and prose.
And thanks for introducing me to so many good shows through WG. You shall be missed on this computer screen.
I don’t post often here, but Matt, thanks for starting a great site. Best of luck in your next endeavor.
I love you more than Applebees/Golden Corral ever will. Qaplah! Spanks for the memories!
Cunt
Amazing.
I want this played at my funeral.
I came for the corgis. I stayed for the Timothy Olyphant mancrush. Rock on and thanks for all the laughs, Matt.
Longtime lurker registering just to say thanks to Matt for everything. Followed you from With Leather here, and will likely follow you wherever you end up next.
Good Luck Matt. You are a great writer, and will succeed in whatever you go forward to do. I came here for the jiggles and violence, and stayed for the comments and laughs.
… and jiggles and violence.
Uproxx commenters are like the family that I can’t quit. Love all you bastards. But will miss you Matt.
I started out reading Warming Glow when reading Filmdrunk didn’t fill up enough procrastination time. It soon became the other way around. Thanks for all the laughs.
Another obligatory comment about how great this was (very) and how sad I am to see Matt go (very). *salute* At least the blog is in capable hands. DG, I trust you.
Wait… hold up… does this mean no more Corgis?
Matt, it’s been a real pleasure reading your stuff. I’m looking forward to whatever you write next…
DG, Dustin, Josh, and Lindy– best of luck. Big shoes to fill, but it should be fun trying.
