I don’t give a rat’s ass about this story, but it’s been all over the news cycle and I can’t ignore it any more. So here goes.
- On Monday, Ol’ Crazy Eyes Michele Bachmann was a guest on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”
- For her entrance, the Roots played a Fishbone song called “Lyin’ Ass Bitch.” (video)
- Fallon apologized on Twitter, but has still been criticized for the song, which was The Roots played without the knowledge of “Late Night” staff.
- Roots drummer ?uestlove, who tipped off viewers to the song’s title with hints on Twitter, said that the song was intended to be tongue-in-cheek.
- Bachmann hasn’t gotten an official apology from NBC, so of course she took the opportunity to be politically divisive: “If that song had been played for Michelle Obama, I have no doubt that NBC would have apologized to her.”
If there’s a lesson here, it’s that politicians are the absolute worst late-night guests. Why bother getting embroiled in a mess like this when there are so many dogs that can do entertaining tricks? Hell, the dogs don’t even have to do tricks. I’d rather watch Jimmy Fallon pet a golden retriever for five minutes than watch him try to be interested in what Bachmann’s saying. This story blows goats.

She thinks that she was treated differently than Michelle Obama because of sexism? Is she implying that they are of a different gender? I think I’m starting to see where all the Marcus Bachmann gay rumors are coming from.
Should’ve gotten Bill Clinton to sit in with The Roots and play sax on that song.
Fine, if Michelle Obama was on Jimmy Fallon, The Roots would’ve played “Ms. Fatbooty.” You happy now, Bachmann?
This isn’t nearly as bad as the time that Ann Coulter came on the program and they played “Goodbye Horses.”
If Michelle Obama came on they should play: Baby Got Back.
Fallon and ?uestlove were wrong to do what they did, Bachmann is an idiot, and nobody on either end of the political spectrum will admit the slightest bit of fault. The world continues on…
Or that time Left Eye from TLC came on and they played “Burning Down the House.”
Or the time that Condoleezza Rice came on and they played “Mind the Gap.”
I’m more upset with Fallon about the retarded interview he gave. He literally had to dumb down his show for Bachmann, which says a lot. Ask a real question like Bob Costas!
The real offensive part of this story is that someone somewhere thinks it’s acceptable to play Fishbone under any circumsances. I loves me some ska, and I can’t stand that drek.
No song on network television is played is played without the knowledge of the executive producer or the legal department.
I’d like to high five all of them.
Politicians are like Pro Wrestlers, but they think their gimmicks are real.
Ask a real question like Bob Costas!
Wait, which Bachmann was on again? Her or the husband?
Politicians are like Pro Wrestlers, but they think their gimmicks are real.
Well said. It certainly explains Macho Man Rick Perry’s press conferences.
I hope Marcus Bachman prays Jimmy Fallon’s gay away.
