Entertainment Weekly has ratings for the most and least watched TV shows of the fall, and good news for “Community” fans: It’s not the lowest rated. In fact, if you take out CW shows because they obviously don’t count, and if you discount airings of shows out of their regular time slots, then “Community” is actually only the sixth least watched show of the fall behind “Bob’s Burgers,” “Chuck,” “Rock City,” “Fringe,” and “Free Agents.” Granted, one of those shows has been cancelled, and two others are on their way out, but still. It’s not the worst! In fact, according to TVBytheNumbers, “Community” actually has a good chance at being renewed for a fourth season, even if it does rank below “COPS.”
As for the highest rated shows: The usual array of TV programs that most of you probably don’t watch, save for “Modern Family” and football: CBS procedurals, CBS comedies, and reality competitions. As the adage goes: “Old people love bad TV.” The highest rated new shows of the fall were “Two Broke Girls,” “Unforgettable,” “Persons of Interest,” all on CBS, and “Once Upon a Time” on ABC. Not a lot of fall hits on the networks.
Of course, as always, none of these ratings take into account how actual people watch television: On their DVRs, on Hulu, streaming, illegally downloaded, on iTunes, and on Netflix. It’s simply a rough sampling of some dipsh*t retards with Neilson boxes, so feel free to discount it all.
Here are the ratings from most watched to least watched.

Banner Pic — Right Click — Save as — …? — Profit
The shows at the top of this list are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.
Exactly. (Except football of course.)
I’m so happy that I can enjoy The big bang theory as much as I enjoy community
sheesh…what episode was the banner pic taken from? anyone know?
Its not from Community. Its from ‘Hot Sluts’.
I’m sad that “Bob’s Burgers” is last on that list. The show is great.
I think the males doing female voices thing turned a bunch of people off to the show right away. Its a good show especially the art crawl episode, but I think its doomed on network. Would be a great cable show though.
Agreed. It might be a little too wacky for the average primetime viewer, but it is an outstanding show. How can you go wrong with Jon Benjamin, Kristen Schaal, and Eugene Mirman?
I’m thankful they got picked up for a second season, but not hopeful for their staying power. Maybe they’ll eventually move to Adult Swim and keep going for a few more seasons.
Agree with Hammer. When they have a female doing one female voice and then two men doing the other female voices, it got really, really weird. As awesome as Benjamin and Schaal are, I could not get past it.
Bob’s Burgers is hysterical.
“How many toothpicks are there?”
“A hundred?”
“No. There’s four. *Dropping one* How many now?”
“Umm….four?”
“You’re the worst kind of autistic! You can’t even count!”
Oh, of course my favorite comedy and my favorite drama are at the bottom. I swear, if “Community” and “Fringe” get cancelled in the same season, I’m going to… uh…
Be really, really sad, I guess.
After the snore-fest so far this season, Fringe might deserve it. Better step things up when it returns.
I have loved Fringe, but if they hook up Olivia and Lincoln, I may be done. Just detest his character.
I’m with you Patty. Those are two of my favorite shows.
If they could get the Chuck treatment and limp along a couple more seasons until we get a definitive final season so they can wrap up the story I would be thrilled.
Great, now I’m gonna get DG on my ass for pointing out errors.
Finding errors on a Dustin post is not really sport at this point.
So people actually watched American Dad (awful), I Hate My Teenage Daughter (GAAHHH), and Whitney (WHAT IN THE HELL) more than Community?
I don’t like calling people retarded because it’s pretty un-P.C., but people are retarded.
It really just means people with Neilson boxes are retards and old people. Unfortunately its still the metric networks use for advertising charges and revenue because they don’t understand any other system of monetization.
American Dad is really funny. Your beef is with Family Guy and the Cleveland Show.
What Don Turtuccio said. American Dad is very funny. It’s what Family Guy wishes it still was.
Of the 3, Cleveland cracks me up the most consistently. Followed by American Dad (although a lot of their episodes I find to be huge misses. Especially any dream/fantasy type ones). Still like Family Guy though.
These are all based on Neilson ratings and not the internet viewings or possibly even DVR recordings, right? When you factor those in a lot of the numbers get shifted around, especially in the middle and lower rankings because old people think Hulu is something you used to swing around your hips when your a child.
Whew! I think I actually said a semi-intelligent comment! Now back to gawking at the banner image for the next 30 minutes.
WE’RE NOT LAST! WE’RE NOT LAST!
It beat 8:00 COPS. It only ranks below 8:30 Saturday COPS. Or as we like to call it, second Old Milwaukee six-pack COPS.
Harry’s Law? HARRY’S LAW?
Old people can’t get enough of Kathy Bates.
That sentence makes me shudder.
101. Comedytime Sat. 2 (CBS, 3.3)
Sounds hilarious.
the highest ranked show that i consistently watch ranks in at 53.
i weep for this planet.
Give it up, Dustin. Community was great, but the underrated Bob’s Burgers finishing behind repeats of other shows is the real story, especially since it’ll more than likely be squeezed out by Napolean Dynamite.
But man, this site should just start being called CommunityGlow. Which is really odd because that banner image isn’t even a Community one.
Community IS great. There’s plenty of room to love Community and Bob’s Burgers and to curse the world that doesn’t appreciate either.
Also, stop whining about the Community love. Any site that appreciates an awesome show and gives me an opportunity to ogle Allison Brie and/or Gillian Jacobs is juuuuuuust fine.
Just be glad it won’t be around long enough to tarnish the solid run it had. Like Dexter. Or HIMYM. They’re never gonna find out who the mother is, will they?
This got me thinking, too…what did all these people do when their shows like Freaks and Geeks and Firefly get canceled, before the outlet of blogs?
Don’t worry, guys. There will be at least two or three great shows on next year to forget all about Community.
“least watched TV shows of the fall” Ummmm……Bob’s Burgers season ended in May. The new season doesn’t start until March 2012.
I’ve always wondered if most of the folks who get the Neilson boxes are families who can’t afford basic cable because the first half of those lists are almost always regular network channels. Who subscribes to cable only to watch NCIS? I usually only go to regular for Fringe. There. I said it.
I’m not going to lie…..I enjoy Two Broke Girls. I don’t LIKE it. But I enjoy how awful it is.
To quote Enid from Ghost World, “This is so bad it’s gone past bad and back to good again.”
105. Secret Circle (CW, 2.34)
106. Supernatural (CW, 2.25)
107. Hart of Dixie (CW, 2.1)
108. Nikita (CW, 2.06)
109. Ringer (CW, 2.02)
CW: Keeping it consistently shitty since whenever it premiered
The sad thing is, Supernatural is actually a really solid show. Arguably this season has been weaker than in the past, but it’s about two brothers who rock out to AC/DC and ZZ Top killing monsters and driving around in a ’63 Impala. It deserves better, god dammit!
Parks & Rec’s ratings are barely higher than Community’s. Pretty surprising.
Allen effing Gregory had higher ratings than Parks and Rec. I just give up.
