We hardly knew you, “Detroit 1-8-7.”
TV.com has put together a death montage of all the shows that went to the Great Reduced Price DVD Section In the Sky in 2011. It’s like the In Memoriam section of the Oscars, except instead of sadly saying, “I totally forgot that person died this year,” you gleefully laugh, “HAHA, remember “The Cape”?” #10episodesandnomovie
Of the approximately 100 (!) series included in the tribute, only nine are even watchable: “Big Love,” “The Closer,” “Free Agents,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Men of a Certain Age,” “Smallville,” “Sports Show with Norm Macdonald,” “Traffic Light,” and “United States of Tara.” If you add “Bored to Death” to the list, which only got the ax last week, that means approximately nine/tenths of TV is pure crap. That actually sounds too generous.
BUT, when we look back at 2011 in a couple of years, let’s not remember it as The Year of the Protest or The Year We Got Osama bin Laden; let’s remember it as The Year “Entourage” and “The Oprah Winfrey Show” Finally Went Off the Air or The Year We Said NO to “How to Be a Gentleman” and “H8R.” U-S-A! U-S-A!

Without Oprah I no longer know what to read, buy, eat, etc.
which is good since my hope is her fans starve to death in their own filth.
No! Not you too, The Paul Reiser Show!!!
It’s a great injustice that “Whitney” isn’t on this list.
I didn’t have the patience to watch the whole thing, but I thought that “Hung” and even “How to Make it in America” were both watchable (the latter maybe not so much).
Sports Show with Norm MacDonald was awesome, but probably could have used a co-host to play off of. The bits with his nephew were hilarious.
Man, someone at TV.com needs classes on how to make a viral video. “Okay, it’s eight and a half minutes and incredibly slow-paced. I think it’s ready.”
I still think CW executives should face a war crimes tribunal for “H8R.”
couldn’t agree more. But their tribunal can take place after NBC’s for putting Community on an “extended hiatus” while allowing Whitney to be broadcast over national television. On second thought, fuck the tribunal, firing squads all around.
Half way through season two of Friday Night Lights. Even as someone who hated high school football, I think it’s amazing. I can’t understand how it didn’t get a fair run on NBC… wait, nevermind, I just answered my own question.
And that’s the bad season!
It does seem kinda gimmicky compared to S01, but it’s still enjoyable. These pictures I keep seeing of Coach in red both confuse and anger me tho.
They confused and angered me at first, too, then I began to embrace and love the red.
We’re talking about communism, right?
A commie coach in Texas? Good lord, S05 must be EPIC.
Avoid spoilers MushroomCloud, as FNL is just amazing. A work of art.
Wish I could watch it for the first time again.
This video is WAY too slow. I wouldn’t spend 8 minutes watching any of these shows, much less remembering them.
tl;dw
Though am I crazy, or is a young Susan Lucci SPECTACULAR, in a 1960′s kind of way?
I kinda miss “Traffic Light” =(
Last time I checked The Closer and Prime Suspect were still on the air I don’t get why they got rid of Brothers and Sisters yet shit like Desperate Housewives is still on. And I miss Men of Certain Age it was cool seeing Ray Romano not always having to be funny but some of those shows needed to go they were waaaay past their prime cough Rescue Me cough.
