“Raising Hope” is similar to Gregory Thomas Garcia’s other show, “My Name is Earl,” in that both shows started out strong, had solid first seasons, and then began to wear out their premises. In addition to the fact that “New Girl” is a poor match for a lead-in, the first half of this season spun its wheels, even if the characters themselves — especially the parents played by Martha Plimpton and Garret Dillahunt — have been able to maintain their awesomeness. Seriously, those guys are two of the best comedic actors on TV. The show turned a corner, however, with its Valentine’s Day episode when Jimmy and Sabrina finally got together. HOWEVER, “My Name is Earl” also turned a huge corner at one point when they got rid of the list, but then Garcia began doing a lot of stunt-casting and before long, I’d lost interest again. Then it got canceled.
All I’m saying is: “Raising Hope” is a great show. Don’t ruin it with a bunch of stunt casting, although I do give props to Garcia for bringing in Katy Perry and then completely abandoning what it is that makes Katy Perry appealing, which is to say: her boobs. She’ll be on the March 6th episode as a prison guard (see above). There’s three more hideous boner-killing images below, which just goes to show: Even the hottest women are merely a wispy mustache and an ugly wig away from looking like trailer trash.

Raising Hope has heart, and sometimes heart is enough.
But not for me, I can’t watch it. I respect that other people do, I just don’t.
raising Hope has heart…
But football to the groin had a football to the groin.
My Name is Earl definitely went south before it got cancelled, but the way NBC cancelled it out of the blue was pretty crappy.
Besides, I would’ve kept watching for Joy and Crab Man. Joy and Crab Man were the best.
I’m super disappointed they didn’t do a Crabman spinoff from My Name is Earl.
I could never get into Raising Hope. Martha Plimpton is about 6 years younger than Garret Dillahunt, but for some reason they make her look about 16 years older, and they’re just hard to buy as a couple.
Plus, I didn’t think it was all that good.
I fully blame my disinterest in New Girl with me not watching this show.
I’m a big fan of Raising Hope. I think Plimpton and Dillahunt are great together, they’ve given the creepy guy (Frank) things to do that make him so much more interesting that the usual creepy guy types on tv, and Kate Micucci is hilarious whenever she’s on.
Who wants ANAL?
I Do…ah… wait, you mean…. ah, yeah, I guess I’ll skip it then.
Perry has about the same appeal with the ‘stache as she does with her usual 1/2″ of make-up.
