Happy Endings/Modern Family (ABC) – Last week’s episode of “Happy Endings” was really, really good. I could watch Adam Pally act like a bear for a month, only taking periodic breaks to look at the GIF of Sofia Vergara firing a gun that I’ve posted after the jump. See how I worked in both shows there? Don’t try this at home, kids. I’m a professional.
Whitney/Are You There, Chelsea? (NBC) – Honestly, I feel a little weird about trashing these shows even though I’ve barely watched them. I’m very sure I won’t enjoy them because I don’t enjoy either woman’s style of comedy, but I’m sure someone likes these shows. Just stay away from me, creeps.
One Tree Hill (CW) – I follow TV pretty closely, but if you had told me this show got canceled in 2007, I wouldn’t have questioned you for a second. Nine years, people. This show has been on for nine years.
American Idol (FOX) – The ladies are singing tonight. I haven’t watched any of this season because ew, but I’d be willing to plop down a $20 that all of the female contestants left have better singing voices than either of the show’s female judges. (This is a hilarious joke referencing the fact that Steven Tyler appears to dress like a lady sometimes. You are welcome for the explanation.)
Psych (USA) – Midseason premiere. Sometimes I watch this show just to see the faces Dule Hill’s character makes. He’s great. The other guy? Notsomuch.
LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Ed Helms and Leslie Bibb on Kimmel; Neil Patrick Harris and Taylor Kitsch on Letterman; Tom Lennon on Ferguson; John McCain and Elizabeth Olsen on Leno; Danny DeVito and Larry the Cable Guy on Fallon; and Khloe Kardashian and a BASE jumper bro on Conan.

I would replace six of my actual friends with the fictional characters from Happy Endings if I could. Also if I ever become a billionare I would pay the actors to hang out with me in character at least once a week. Neither of those things are weird right?
with the possible exceptions of Penny and Jane sometimes, I wholeheartedly agree.
I honestly wish Penny would go away. She almost ruins the show for me.
what are you guys talking about, I want a Penny and Jane sandwich…tot’s ahmahzing
that would be so kewt. sooo keeewet.
Last week was the first time I’d watched ‘Happy Endings’. That was a “really, really good” episode? What does a trite, formulaic episode look like, then?

HI MURDERFACE!
I enjoyed it, but people who haven’t seen it before disliked it. Try the Halloween episode? That’s probably their strongest episode so far.
Dude looks like a lady.
So I can’t watch a whole episode of Modern Family anymore without throwing up in my mouth.
I still find it amusing at points but as soon as the more one-note characters start hitting those one notes I start yelling at my TV…. which rarely goes over well with the lady friend.
I was listening to an old episode of Doug Loves Movies last night, and he articulated my feelings about Modern Family quite well. I like it, but I don’t find myself laughing at it very often. Phil-Luke scenes and Haley-other daughter scenes are the only ones that tend to be lol-worthy. And Ed O’Neill has some great lines every now and then. But it’s not uncommon for me to get through a whole episode with no more than a smile.
Your cat hates it when you yell?
I refuse to believe that a hill with only one tree is interesting enough to support nine years of programming.
How dare you, Danger? They’re both hilarious on Psych, and even if you don’t like James Roday, you can’t deny that the aliases he makes for Dule Hill’s character on the show are awesome
[www.youtube.com].
I agree with Danger that Dule Hill is probably the more talented actor of the two, but I agree with you that they’re both pretty hilarious.
I wish that Max was real, and also my BFF.
Totally off topic but I need to say these things: YOU A LUCKY MAN!…Koreans Behold!
Yay, Psych is back! I’ve missed the show and Maggie Lawson.
I wish her Justified character had stuck around for more than one episode. She was most entertaining.
Aye. She was great on Justified, and deserves to branch out a bit more. Then again, she’s working with the love of her life, has fun and is well paid, so well done Maggie I guess.
Aha, I never knew she and Roday were actually an item. Yeah, that must be a pretty sweet gig then.
Love “Whitney”…..Hate “Chelsea”…..not sure why…
Well, Whitney Cummings is certainly the more palatable/funnier of those two women, so that’d make sense. But I can’t comment on their shows, as I haven’t watched a full episode of the former, or a single second of the latter.
Has anyone else heard Jim Jeffies’s podcast? In one episode he said he knows that Whitney Cumming’s used to be a man and that her manager confirmed it to him. I am still in shock and do not know what to think.
In a situation like that, Bill, do what I do….use your left hand and knot a paisley tie around your neck……
If she used to be a man shouldn’t she be funnier.
Jesus Christ, enough with all the pop-up ads.
Yeah seriously. I don’t like to run an adblocker because I know it has to load for people to get paid, but fuck man.
No love for the top chef finale?
