In an advertisement on their website for DVDs of the show’s second season, AMC accidentally let the cat out of the bag regarding a major upcoming plot point of “The Walking Dead.” Ruh roh.
Now, I can’t really cover this story without discussing the spoiler itself, and I don’t want a million people yelling at me in the comments, so I’m going to write BIG HONKING SPOILER ALERT in all caps and post this video of a koala running down a hallway, then get into it after the jump. If you want to read on, feel free. If not, don’t scroll past the video. You’ve officially been warned.
From E! Online:
Shane’s (Jon Bernthal) a goner.
In the AMC website ad for The Walking Dead Limited Edition Season 2 Blu-ray 4 Disc Set (available in August), the bonus features are described as including “the making of the barn, an extended zombie gut scene, Shane’s last episode…”
Eek. Heads are gonna roll after this goof—and thanks to the zombie series, we’ve got a pretty graphic idea of what that looks like.
And now we know what Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd meant when she teased the second-season “jaw-dropping” finale. At the winter TCAs, Hurd told us, “I have a feeling even with inveterate tweeters during episodes…there may be some significant periods of silence, because people may not be able to click on their keyboards.”
So there you go. This doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone who read the comic books, but still, someone at AMC really Britta’d things up big time. I’ll let disappointed Anderson Cooper sum up my feelings on this one.

Anyone who didn’t know Shane was gonna die will probably be sad when they leave the farm too…
What about the bitchy blonde? Please tell me she’s taking a bullet too. In fact, can we include the old guy, the kid, the older lady, Lori and hell most of the cast.
You would really like the comic series.
yea you should definitely check out the comics.
Replace T-Dog with a killer, kung-fu, wolf bitch and kill off basically everyone in the cast and make Rick much, much more of a badass and that is basically the comic.
*Insert comment about Shane dying in Issue #6 of the comic here*
Bruce Willis was dead the whole time?
Do we even do Comments of the Week on the Uproxx mothership?
Call me when the DVD adds the bonus feature entitled “Everyone’s Last Episode, Because They Were Replaced With Smart, Likable Characters”
Will they bring him back for the flashbacks, flashforwards or, the flashsideways?
I’ve got two pictures of EXTREME SPOILERS FOR THE WALKING DEAD. I REPEAT EXTREME SPOILERS DO NOT FOLLOW THESE LINKS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SEE.

Wow, those pics were no joke. Nice post!
who is in the second picture?
Dale.
Oh, there’s a making of the barn extra on the DVD? WORTH IT.
Sounds absolutely riveting, can’t wait!!
I don’t care enough about the Walking Dead to worry about spoilers. Now I’m just curious as to how Shane dies. Is he killed by a person or a zombie. Dun dun dun!
****SPOILER****
Click on the first pic link in buckwheat’s post below.
How can that legit be a spoiler? After the first season ended and Shane didn’t die, everybody was like “WTF, Shane didn’t die.”
BTDub in the books, the kid shoots him. Whatshisface’s son. But who knows if they’ll be ballsy enough to do that on teevee. (Disclaimer: I read the first 7-8 volumes and watched the first season; I have no idea what’s been happening in the second.)
