Carson Daly, host of “The Voice,” as well as “Last Call with Carson Daly,” a late-night talk show that no one in the history of the world has actually ever seen, has apologized for homophobic comments he made yesterday on his L.A. radio show. When discussing the JetBlue flight in which passengers had to restrain a pilot who had a meltdown, Daly moronically suggested that gay people would not have been able to handle the situation.
“If that were me … with my luck, it would be like, ‘This is the flight going to the [gay] pride parade in San Francisco,’” mockingly adding, “Uh, we’re headed down to Vegas for the floral convention.”
Daly offered a very sincere and heartfelt apology that didn’t sound like it was scripted by a PR rep at all. No. Not at all.
“I’ve long been a supporter of gay and lesbian rights, and I’m saddened that my comments, however unintentional, offended anyone, specifically members of the LGBT community,” Carson added in his statement. “The fact that I have hurt anyone is devastating. I’m not that guy. I’m proud to be an ally of the LGBT community and will continue to fight with them.”
Listen, Carson Daly: You’ve violated the one rule that the world expects from you: You’re not allowed to offend anyone. You are hired to be a bland, boring, lifeless mouthpiece for whatever soulless corporate entity has hired you. You’re great at it because you lack any discernable personality. You are cardboard lacquered in hair gel. You provide transitions between the stuff that people actually want to see; you fill dead air. That is your sole purpose in life: To blather monotonously between segments. That’s it. Nothing more. You don’t get to have an opinion because no one cares about your opinion. Just read the damn cue cards and shut the hell up.

I’m really starting to hate the “I’m not that guy” excuse.
It’s the new “some of my best friends are (fill in the blank)”
“I’m not racist but…I’m about to say something racist.”
Some of my best friends were negro queers…
Wait, what? A pilot went nuts and therefore…gay pride parade and flowers?
If you’re gonna be all offensive, at least make sense (and be funny). Appears he did neither.
I think the context was that the flight that the pilot lost his shit on happened to be full of men/people going to a security conference in Vegas. His point was supposed to be that these were people with experience in subduing someone and with his luck he would have been yadda yadda yadda.
So wait, is the plane Daly would be on going to the pride parade in SF or the floral convention in Vegas, or both? I’m confused.
Quoting that old SNL skit seems appropriate here: “Hi, I’m Carson Daly, and I’m a massive tool.”
I’m not really happy that the American Pie Reunion tour means we suddenly have to hear from everybody who nailed Tara Reid as well..
That is a LOT of people.
And now I have The Real Slim Shady stuck in my head.
But really, he hosts The Voice? I had no idea and those ads were endless during the run up to the Super Bowl.
Chevy Chase is beaming with pride.
Carson Daly could fall down a well for all I care but I’m honestly more pissed that GLAAD thought it was worth their time to make this guy apologize. If anything they just gave him free press for his radio show.
Tru dat
“If that were me… with my luck, there would have been like a ton of fags too busy sucking dicks and wearing pink to stop that crazy pilot”
-Carson Daly
Dr. Percival Ulysses Cox should be in every hall of fame and put in gifs more. That is all
Now apologize for Total Request Live!
Never forget, America.
I don’t care how desperate I am during one of my insomnia filled evenings, I will not watch his POS show. I will watch an infomercial about a mop before I would watch that “Last Call” B.S. The mop would be more interesting and way more useful!
He was great in Josie and the Pussycats.
Mr. Rowles, you sir, are wrong. “You’ve violated the one rule that the world expects from you: You’re not allowed to offend anyone.” While its a nice sentiment, it is untrue in every sense of the word. People being offended is exactly how any culture evolves. The things that offend are what make us grow and become better people. Now while I do not share his sentiment, and have friends who could easily take him in a fight, he has the right to be obnoxious just as you do. To be honest you have offended me, for the first time I have felt the need to register to comment on this site. Why? Because I am offended by the very idea that you would have people stifle opinion. Looks like you broke your own rule.
Just once I want one of these guys to say, “Look, it was a joke. I’m sorry if you didn’t find it funny. But I’m not sorry if you took offense to it. You know why I’m not sorry if you are offended? BECAUSE IT WAS A FRICKING JOKE!”
