CBS, whose audience average median age is literally 55 years old, pulled the trigger early and renewed a good two thirds or more of its primetime line-up yesterday, ensuring that the geriatric set will not have its stories taken away from them before they enter hospice care. The list of shows renewed stands at 18, so far, including four comedies, nine dramas, three reality series and two news magazines. The list: “The Good Wife,” “2 Broke Girls,” “NCIS,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Criminal Minds,” “CSI,” “The Mentalist,” “Person of Interest,” “Blue Bloods,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Mike & Molly,” “How I Met Your Mother,” and “Big Bang Theory” (real nerds watch “Community”). “60 Minutes” and “48 Hours,” as well as “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race,” and “Undercover Boss,” are also returning.
Absent from the list of renewals: “Two and a Half Men.” Don’t read too much into that. It’s a top 10 show. The hang-up right now is ongoing negotiations with Ashton Kutcher. If he returns, so does the show. Meanwhile, two “CSI” installments (New York and Miami) remain on the bubble, as does “Rules of Engagement” and “Rob.” “Unforgettable” is also on the bubble (though it will probably be renewed) as is “A Gifted Man” (it probably will not be renewed).
It’s a great day for your grandparents.

and USA Today subscribers!
USA Today Subscribers? So… Hotels?
Hey, motels too!
Real nerds watch The Venture Bros, not Community.
Well, how about both?
CBS should add a bifocal to their logo.
Damn, CBS. You better have a contingency plan for when all your viewers die.
And I swear, I will punch the next person who acts all surprised that I don’t like BBT, just because I like sci-fi. It’s offensive and I will not stand for it.
Amen.
“Why don’t you like it?”
“It’s not funny.”
“You’re just overly sensitive because it’s like you and your friends.”
“No. It’s ALL been done before on the internet. They do nothing original. It’s just new to you.”
Those people who ask that are dumb. I enjoy BBT, but for people to think that the show is actually for nerds is silly.

I bring this clip up every time I have to get into THAT conversation. [www.youtube.com]
cD; good enough…
Don’t care. I’m listening to Alison Brie on this new-fangled radio in the studio on my local station. Adorable. Now how to get the picture tuned in?
CBS is so out of touch with younger viewers. I actually like Person of Interest, but they don’t offer the episodes online anymore, so I don’t watch.
Great, now the 3 secretaries where I work can talk about these crappy shows for another year.
My Grandmother LOVES BBT
I’m imagining a sweet old lady shouting “haha nerds!” while laughing to the laugh track. BTW dibs on Laughing to the Laugh Track for a title to something. I don’t know what yet.
Big Bang Theory is awesome…….but Penny getting a bit bloated…..
is getting
BBT Rulez! fistpump I hope Rules of Engagement comes back…you know you love Puddy…and secretly love David Spade and Timmy the Assistant…admit it
I would admit to having committed multiple murders before I admitted to liking Rules of Engagement.
/would also admit to liking BBW before admitting to liking BBT.
I love The Good Wife so this is great news but when I do watch I acknowledge that inside I feel like a 57 year old woman. But Cary Agos is hot which grounds me back to the 20-something that I am.
Hurr hurr hurr the Indian guy can’t talk to girls without getting liquored up.
That show sucks
I like 60 Minutes….
/hates reading
Ha, it’s funny because those shows get ratings and are renewed while Community doesn’t and won’t be renewed. If I were an advertiser who would I target? The demo who have jobs and money to spend or the one who has 25% unemployment and those who do work have low paying jobs? Tough choice but not for those who understand economics. Oh and good news, all those hip shows you like now will be the old and stodgy shows your children make fun of. As Abe Simpson said, “It will happen to you…”
Wow, welcome to Warming Glow. Your opinion, while idiotic and stupid, is valued.
V Dub is out of Gas….
…Remember V Dub……Cool is tomorrow’s Lame, today…
I don’t understand why people attack shows they don’t like and don’t watch. Is there a club with a points system? Are you working towards a free sandwich? Why did you climb down from your palace to make this comment. Why waste time? There are games of squash to be played with hobo testicles.
Free sandwich, you say?
Why, because I didn’t know this was a Community blog exclusively. I assumed it was a tv blog. Since Community won’t be on tv much longer the writers might want branch out. Being popular on the internet never made any show popular in the real world.
Just spent a week sharing a condo with my folks and in-laws (age range 66-74). The only channels they watched were CBS and Fox news. The success of these shows now makes total sense to me.
Shouldn’t this post have larger print?
