“Mad Men” is coming back this Sunday, so the Internet is currently flooded with news and content related to the show (most notably, Jon Hamm’s war on the Kardashians). We’ll do our best to filter things out and post only the best of the best, but it’s getting close to the weekend and it’s supposed to be like 75 degrees tomorrow here in the Northeast, so, you know, keep that in mind. I may just draw a stick figure with giant boobs and a text box that says “Hi, I’m Joan from ‘Mad Men,’” and leave it up all afternoon. I’m a pretty great blogger.
All that said, here’s an 8-bit, Choose Your Own Adventure game someone made based on the show. It’s pretty cool, and, at the very least, it’s a decent way to waste a half hour at work. The only bone I have to pick is that the way to increase Don’s “Inner Peace” levels is through a storyline involving Betty. That’s ridiculous. The only way “inner peace” and “Betty Draper” should be in the same sentence is if that sentence ends with “so Don packed her into a cannon with like five pounds of gunpowder, shot her all the way to the moon, and lived happily ever after.”

Betty Draper is almost Lori Grimes level of horrible. Betty is like the only bad thing about the whole show.
I’ve spent all week debating who is the worse mom and my verdict is still Lori.
I’ve only seen season 1 on the Netflix, and I don’t see how Betty is Lori level horrible. Anyone care to explain how she is?
Her behavior gets way worse past season 1. She essentially behaves like a spiteful child 90% of the time.
A comparison: Lori Grimes is incapable of paying attention to her kid. Betty Draper is incapable of paying attention to her kids unless she’s screaming at/punishing them.
Yes. Watch the other seasons.
Also, there’s a slim chance that if Mad Men incorporated a zombie apocalypse Betty would pull it together at least a little.
Plus, tits.
@Groundloop: At least Betty has the shotgun skills and the icy killer instinct to be somewhat useful in the event of zombies. Won’t get your laundry done though.
Betty Draper is the sole reason that I can’t quite say that I like Mad Men. If they just kept the cameras at the office, I would be all about it.

The big difference between Betty and Lori is that Betty is an actual character. She might be an awful mother and a character that is unlikeable, but there is motivation behind her actions. Betty is a shitty person, Lori is a shitty character. Plus, Betty beats the shit out of her kids. Lori would be better served that way.
I doubt we’ll see another season-long Sourpuss Betty. The writers are just too good to let the character languish for that much longer. The smile she shot Don at the end of the last episode was probably some foreshadowing.
