On last night’s episode of “The Simpsons,” the show’s traditional intro sequence and couch gag were replaced with a parody of the “Game of Thrones” opening. It wasn’t quite as mind-melting as the Banksy intro from 2010, but still, if you combine one of my favorite shows of all time with one of my favorite new shows, I will happily give you my undivided attention for 30 seconds. You know, to the extent anything gets my undivided attention considering we live in a world where you can just type “Prince GIFs” into Google and find dozens of them literally within seconds. It’s a miracle anyone gets anything done.
This isn’t the first time “The Simpsons” has spoofed the opening sequence from a Warming Glow favorite, as they also gave the Springfield treatment to “Mad Men” during their “Treehouse of Horror” episode from 2008. While I’m tempted to beg them to resist the temptation to go back to this well too often, I think I speak for all of us when when I say “FRESH PRINCE” INTRO OR GTFO. [crickets] What? Just me?

I can’t decide which would be funnier: Milhouse as Joffrey, or Duffman as Khal Drogo.
Both!
Also, Martin as Sam.
I may spend too much time today thinking about who fits into what role.
Hans Moleman as Walder Frey.
BUT WHAT ABOUT DISCO STU?
Mrs Krabappel as Melisandre
@Squish: Disco Stu doesn’t advertise…
I make no sense. I just really wanted to write that.
bonus points for the 3 eyed crows.
troy mcclure as jaime lannister. “you may remember me from that time I pushed your son out a window”
I so wanted to see them behead homer.
Handsome Pete as Tyrion!
I wanted to see a higher quality version of this and I’d say I just have to wait, but I’m pretty sure Fox is going to have all copies taken down. Surprised this one’s still up.
God, what a dumb episode, though. Note to Simpsons writers: If you do a parody of someone’s artwork and then have said person himself show up in the episode and then actually go so far as to literally reference the artwork itself being parodied? DEAR CHUCKLEHEADS, THAT’S NOT PARODY ANYMORE.
“Dear Chuckleheads”. Granpa Simpson couldn’t have said it any better.
This made me watch my second episode of the Simpsons this season. I am not happy about this fact, because they both were pretty bad. (honestly last night’s was better than the terrible 500th.) But the idea and execution was cool for the intro, they could have gone a bit further, but then Game of Thrones is probably watched by 10% of the Simpsons viewers, so that’s already pretty cool they used it.
