In news that was mostly expected, but still fantastic, NBC has renewed “Parks & Recreation” for a fifth season. Even better news: it got a full 22-episode order! BOOM. None of this shortened season BS. As Alan Sepinwall at Hitfix points out, this will get the show to 90 episodes by season’s end, which is a nice number for syndication. And since NBC owns the show, they have a horse in that race. A mini-horse, if you will. (RIP Lil’ Sebastian.)
Speaking of excellent news, “Happy Endings” got renewed, too! The ABC comedy will return for a third season next fall, also getting a full 22-episode order.
Anyway, good news all around. “Community,” “30 Rock,” “Parks and Rec,” and “Happy Endings” will all be back next year, in one form or another. There’s only one appropriate way to celebrate that.

What about The Office? Isn’t that what we all REALLY care about?
I certainly hope the WHITNEY GOT RENEWED TOO BUT YOU’RE INSANE IF YOU THINK I’M PUTTING THAT IN THE POST tag never has a reason to be used again.
Maybe if we all just ignore it it will go away.
My reaction to Whitney’s renewal.
But hey, the awesome stuff got renewed so I can’t complain too much.
Wait, “Whitney” got a second season too? 13 episodes or 22?
Now I’m absolutely convinced NBC’s strategy is “why bother trying, we’ll only make it even worse”.
I wonder how many episodes they’ll give Betty White’s Off Their Rockers.
At this point, guaranteeing episodes to Betty White is about as smart as buying her underripe bananas.
Seriously. I know Whitney’s ratings are about even with our beloved Thursday night shows, but NOBODY CARES. It has zero buzz and everybody who matters hates it.
this is an effing great day. first to hear parks getting renewed period, then to find out it’s for the full 22 and then happy endings just the cherry on top.
Also important, AFV was renewed.
This just makes the summer go by SO much easier.
I assume Whitney got renewed because Fox still owns the rights to Talk to the Hand and Don’t Go There.
Either way this is just awesome. Happy Endings is the one comedy where my fiance’s and my taste in comedy line up. As much as I bitch about all the drivel that gets green lit these days its nice to know that the 2012 / 2013 season will have Happy Endings, Community, Parks & Rec, 30 Rock, Always Sunny, The League, and Archer. I can’t remember the last time there were that many solid comedies on the air.
I can. This year.
WHOO! DONNA DOUBLE-SHOT DRINKING PARTY TIME!
TREAT YO SELF
YES. Queen of Pawnee.
So Whitney, we meet again. What disturbing and bizarre experiences have you in store for me now?
Oh, Happy Endings. She’s got them thangs, indeed.
Happy Endings, fuck yeah. That was the one I was really worried about. And a full season as well. Ah-mah-zing.
Looks like Whitney and Up All Night each got 13 episode orders.
*slams hand on table* HERE WE GO!
Another season of Happy Endings is great. Truly.
Stoked for all those shows, but I’m pretty damn bummed that Awake got cancelled… especially after last night’s excellent episode. Jason Isaacs deserves an Emmy for carrying that show all by himself.
parks & rec is so horrible i can’t believe a spoof of the office is getting a 5th season. what a joke.
Eat a bag of dicks, Ippolit Shrilly.
