Haha, remember when season five of “Mad Men” began with those jerks dropping water balloons on the black picketers on the street below. That was dumb. As dumb as when Betty had her cancer scare, which has had exactly ZERO impact on anyone’s arc. (I will eat my words if Betty dies in the finale, and then I’ll have some whipped cream to celebrate, too.) Season five had its rough patches, but that first scene is an instance where you can say, “It only got better from here,” and actually mean it.
But overall, I’ve really liked season five (so far?). It hasn’t been as consistent as season four, and there’s no way “The Phantom” can top “Tomorrowland,” but it did give us The Punch Heard ‘Round the Internet, as well as “Zou Bisou Bisou,” which brings me to my point: women. Women OWNED "Mad Men" this season. Jessica Paré, as Megan Draper, came out of nowhere (i.e., a hot tub) to become a legitimate star, and even the characters we already knew were awesome, like Joan, Peggy, and Sally, outdid themselves. Plus, Rory Gilmore! Jane Sterling! Lane’s Wife! The girl who got hit on by the guy from “Suburgatory”!
So, instead of a normal, scattershot GIFs of the Week feature, I’m focusing today’s installment on the lovely ladies of season five of “Mad Men,” and Henry Francis’s mom. I couldn’t find one for everyone who made an appearance (sorry, Megan’s redhead friend), so I’ve included extra Joan and Peggy, instead. I’m sure no one will mind. One more thing: look out for Cajun Boy’s finale discussion/recap on Uproxx. We’ll keep you posted.

I intentionally separated the Sally and Megan GIFs. I don’t want things to get TOO weird.
Every time I see that fur coat sideboob I think it’s going to pop out. It never does. But I keep up hope.
Keep the faith. Someday it will.
You seem pretty lukewarm about this season, but I think from the episode after Betty’s dumb cancer score up until now has been one of the best stretches this show has had, ever. Pete’s episode, the LSD trip, HoJo’s, Megan’s parents, (spoiler-y spoilers ahead) Peggy leaving, Jaguar, Joan’s thing, Lane. There’s been a lot going on and they’ve handled it pretty well, in my view.
Agreed. The first 2 episodes (3 I suppose since the 1st week had 2 hours long episodes) were relatively weak. Every one since then has been stellar.
Needs more Roger Sterling getting mouth sex.
More like Julia WHOREmond, amirite? Amirite?
I have conflicting feelings about Betty’s death. On one hand, she’s terrible. But on the other hand, I really enjoy mocking Fat Betty.
I know it’s been here before, but sassy Peggy faux-propositioning Roger is one of the best moments of the season.

I don’t know, as far as I’m concerned the Betty episode is the only thing standing in the way of this being the best season, but the Fat Betty schadenfreude almost makes up for it.
Look, can we just fast forward to the seventies for the inevitable Joan/Megan/Don three way that’s obviously going to happen?
who played Pete’s hooker. She was hot.
Ugh, truff.
#27. Don clearly doesn’t know where that hand has been.
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: alex mack as Missus Cosgrove blows my damn mind.
